Don't need but two:

(1) A big hammer beaten piece of lead, painted and stabbed with a treble hook

(2) A 1/6th oz rooster tail on ultralight gear!

If you can't catch a white/hybrid/striper with these, you need to turn in your badge!

'Nuff Said!

Since it is winter, I'll list my favorite winter lures for Hibs/Strips/Sindys:

1) Moes Dead Assassins - if you're not using these during the winter, you're getting smoked by everyone that is. I will catch more hibs & strips on this lure than any other lure, 3 to 1. And most times will outcatch "The Feeders" thumb
2) Moes Shanghai swimbait - just think of the Great Wall of China and you'll know where to use this. Great for early morning shallow fishing.
3) 3/4 - 1 oz TNT180 chartreusse holographic/ with red head - on cloudy days when the temps are higher and fish are holding on deep structure
4) 3/4 - 1 oz TNT180 silver holographic - on clear days when the temps are higher and fish are holding on deep structure.
5) Cocahoo - Good all round bait for semi-shallow to deep water fishing.
6) (Honorary mention) THE Purple Buzzbait - Yes that's right, the myth, the legend, the lure. It's all about the PBB wink

To check out these lures, simply click on the patches in my signature. Remember, the fish are in their winter pattern, therefore you need to use what works in the winter, not what works in the summer. It sounds simple, but you would be amazed at how many anglers I see using summer time lures & presentation. Oh and one thing to keep in mind.....SLOW IT DOWN smile

1. Something chrome preferably 1 hook

2. Plastics/shad color (swimbaits)

3. Something chrome preferably 1 hook

4. Live bait

5. Something Chrome preferably 1 hook

These 5 work really well when their biting.

Nitro have to agree on your choice of baits for winter time. I sure like the chartreuse with red head 180 good look'n lure thumb.

Mine for spring thru fall

1. 3"-4" Wildeye shad (chartreuse)

2. 3/4 oz. Hummdinger (chartreuse) none smaller able to cast a country mile and can cover a lot of water from top to bottom swim it, jig, or swim n drop all the way back to the boat when I'm trying to locate fish.

3. Tnt 180 or simmilar slab 1 oz. to 2 oz (chartreuse). I always try to match the hatch my rule of thumb.

grin See a pattern to my favorite color lol. When that does not work which is rare then i will use pearl or silver.

Some of my friends have wondered why I will not use any small jigs and I tell them that I use those for winter crappie not for sandies or hybrids. After we have been fishing for awhile they get the message and start wanting to barter for some of my baits laugh because I will have caught just as many if not more but much larger fish, done that time after time.

O'h And that last line yep seen that a few times wildly swinging that rod over there heads like it was summer loco. Yep dead stik'n or just a couple inch's is all it takes.

1.Slab- I prefer slabs in the 1.5oz to 2.5oz when fishing for Hybrids and Stripers. I like Silver Holographic baits with dark colored backs to them. I have tested them without and have more confidence in the ones with dark backs. Sand bass I like smaller ones on schooling fish and larger slabs on really active fish. I like slabs that flutter, I am partial to the TNT 180's as I make them. I have caught fish on probably every slab I have tied to the end of the line. Most any slab catch's fish. Its what you have confidence in is what makes the bait good to the user. The slabs I grew to like before I made slabs were Lead Babies and Sooner Slabs, I love the Sooner Slabs still use them. What I liked about those two slabs were there quality and I liked the way they looked. When I slab for sand bass I like to use Malic Flies by Night toppers. Also have used Jigum Tag alongs, both are great products that hold up.
2. Shad Rap- Silver/Black I use this if the mood comes up to troll for walleyes, but while I do this I nail the sandies. So I must say one of my favorite baits for sandies/hybrids.
3. Rattle Trap- Blue/Silver I like throwing them always have.
4. Plastics- I am starting to like this type of bait more and more, neat bite to a slab fishermen, good change up. Sassy's, Flukes, etc.
5. Topwater- Pencil Popper on Hybrids, Salt water Chugbug. Papa Dawg's.

Guys, I have been promoting my baits on here for a few years now. Many people have grown to like them and use them, some people could care less. Without this forum I would not have even attempted to do this full time. If you look at my posts over the past few years, I promote my baits, I give tips and any help I can give people new to slabbing. I am not the best slab fisherman out there, I feel I always have new things to learn. I don't always get on here and plug my business unless I have new products, or sales going on. People are emailing quite often when's the next sale. I dont do them often, wish I could but cant. Which this is unfortunate for people that don't like the ads I apologize, this time of year, lots of time to get new stuff going, and business slows giving more free time. Its funny though, on some who complain about people pushing products, etc, I never hear any complaining coming out if someone is giving something away, donations, or doing something for a cause. Its a two way street there, just keep that in mind. There really is no financial gain for any person who promotes my baits, I use to give a lot of them away to pro staff, and people who promote for me. Over time that changed, I would say that most of the baits used by my prostaff is purchased...sure not at full price... but win/win for both of us. I think they all realize that if I cant stay in business they gotta get another bait. I can not speak for what anyone else says on this forum in regards the products I offer, not my place to. I didn't really need to get into any of that as it didn't pertain to the subject, but just thought I would throw it out there. I enjoy reading people posts of what they like, I really like it when they say a little bit about why someone likes something.

On my home lake , it is NOT a winter pattern yet.

On any given day for the next few weeks , I can catch
hybrids on 4 of the 5 lures I listed.

the Jointed redfin is a great spring lure, Winter = not so much.

As far as deadsticking goes, I would rather crappie fish. smile
good luck

1- Slab
2- Swim Bait
3- Topwater
4- tail spinner
5- soft plastic

When I use to post reports and I would put Caught all my fish on slabs and swim baits the question always came up on the forum or PMs What kind of slabs and swim baits? So I incorporated the brands that I use on my post. Just like anybody knows I can take a piece of lead with a treble hook and catch fish, I can take any brand of lure that I use and catch fish. Some work a little better then others but not always. I can also tell you a little secrete it is all in the confidence you have in a bait. You do always want to match the hatch (size) and presentation. COLOR DOES NOT MATTER majority of the time. People like different baits because They have caught fish on them, that is it. I do promote lures that I like and I try to promote durable lures. As a guide I do not want to keep buying baits because they come apart. And if I can find a bait cheaper but the same and just or more durable I promote it. It is a business for all of us. I see a lot of people that post reports just to show how many fish they caught. This forum was originally made to help people not criticize about skinny fish or judgment because somebody uses a different lure. People ask what I like and I tell them. Just because somebody does not like trolling or certain lures does not make them any better fisherman. It is winter time and see this post got a little stupid, everybody needs to go fishing and use the bait they like. If you have nothing nice to say and can not speak about yourself then saty off the thread. I have discussed this with JP Greeson and he agrees. And everybody, please buy TNT slabs, Humdingers and lures from Moes Tackle Company laugh laugh laugh

And this whole post I made was not directed at you aton laugh

I was there last weekend deadsticking with good success. Hybrids was what we were targeting of course, BUT big crappie stole the show. We got 6 big ones in the boat sat. a.m. Sooooo, if your crappie holes aren't producing try south of your slip Mo. thumb

Bryon,
You handle your advertising on here the correct way. Don't change what your doing. I think Anton is refering to the other group.
