Again, pull up the crime statistics for Love Field. Then lets look back to the Summer of 2007. 4 people murdered, several more hurt, all robbed by thugs on the shore of Bachman while either walking or biking the concrete path. The DPD "call out" squad got them. Its not paranoia, its fact. Its naive to say because it hasnt happened to you, that it doesnt happen, furthermore its dishonest. I havent had any problems down there, but that doesnt mena the next time I'm down there I wont.

I dont fish just Bachman armed, I fish everywhere armed. I go everywhere armed. You dont get to pick when, where, why, and how the fight comes to you, only what you do in response to it. Unfortunately the fight has come to me 4 times in my life, fortunately nobody was seriously hurt. I cant say the next time I or the bad guy(s) will be so lucky, I can only hope for the best and train for the worst.

WT Who!

Remember that they will both steal your bait, but the republican will tell you he feels bad about it.

Issues of crime aside, I've thought of going to Bachman too due to Rudy's reports. But I wonder if that lake is clean enough to eat anything out of there. Of course, catch & release is always an option, but I'd rather keep the crappie for dinner.

The lake is not on the TPWD fish consumption ban list, but the run off from the local area that goes into the lake can't be too clean. Any of you regulars care to comment on this?

Took the words right out of my mouth. I'm sure there aren't anything wrong with the fish in there. thumb

The water running down the upper creek is crystal clear. That should help wash away some of the run off.

Is Bachman Branch spring fed?

Hmmm...according to the watershed maps, Bachman BRANCH runs thru the upper and lower Bachman CREEK watersheds. Does that mean Farmers Branch residents can claim they live in Farmers Creek?

Water quality is monitored by the county, the city, and EPA, dute to proximity to major airport. City of Dallas does tissue samples on fish. Once met a Biologist with the City of Dallas named Curtis Flood, who was there specifically to gather and test tissue samples from fish.

NEVER has been a consumption ban on this lake. Back in the 70's it was completely drained, cleaned up, refilled and re-stocked.

Been dredged at least once since the complete draining.

That was a few yrs ago but the vigilance so far as I know, continues.

i tell you one thing for sure, those are the prettiest colored, healthiest looking and thickest bodied fish you will ever catch anywhere.

The bass are florida strain and shaped like nfl footballs. i was told by one TFF'er in a pm, that he caught a bass that was probably 16 inches and may have been pushing 5-6 lbs(maybe a bit of a stretch, but you get the idea)! It was that thick and fat.

the crappie have full rich color and are the fightingest crappie i have ever caught. Not one "dead weighter", once hooked, in the bunch!

Rudy
