Oh my gosh, how cool. The midges, were they solid black, and then others in red? Or were they a combination of black and red? I just made a few Red A$$ Nymphs, and they have red, green, and light dun in them. I also made them with a ginger hen hackle as well.

(they were real midges, im saying to match the hatch those would be the hook size.) hatches of flys and gnats start about 4 pm. hex start very late at night. didnt even try the hex hatch at nit.....just to dark for me. almost all the fish were 12-14 inchers on average

Alright, thanks for the tip. I guess they would like my Red A$$ Nymph then...will have to try them out. I don't have many midges in my arsenal.

the fly shops sell midges in broken bow...... use a pheasant tail and drop a red midge about a foot down, then drop a black midge about a foot down as well from that so you have 3 flys on the same line. i put my indicator about 1.5 foot up from the pheasant tail. that was working well in zone one above lost creek. lost creek had the most fish that i could tell. i think due to the 3 day weekend be for last, most of the bait fishermen took a lot out. but this weekend will be good after they stock again thursday.

Well I cannot wait to go, I hope to go in a few days. Thanks for the extra pics, wow, just beautiful. I have never been there, and not sure what area would be best, but I am sure I will figure it out.

Well, if you go in a few days, that would be just in time for the stocking. By the end of this past weekend, the place was pretty much picked clean - as usual. Those black midges were the ticket for sure, and I had good luck drowning a dry just before sunset. It looks like all images are from Zone 1? If you get frustrated with Lost Creek, I had the most luck on Spillway Creek and closed out the days at the Evening Hole (I call it the fish farm). I would love to know someone who catches fish regularly in Zone 2 or 3, or even see a recent photo of one of those illusive big Browns. The Brown you have a photo of is the first I've seen in a long, long time. Thus far, the only pictures I see of Browns from there are looking old and faded. shannon

i hooked a brown in lost creek but slipped off. that was the only brown i caught. my buddy caught about the same number as i did sat and sunday. i fished 50/50 in lost creek and cardiac hill areas. never tried anywhere else because i was happy catchin fish and i could see some big one everyonce and a while. i took the nature pics because i was leavin that day and was caught up with my eyes in the river... going next month or sooner to do it all over again

Thanks for giving me a clue where to start out. I have never been there before, so I have no idea where I would like to go. I would prefer to fish off the bank, and fairly shallow wading, like water not above my belly button at most. One reason is my son is coming, and I will probably have to help him out a bit, and I don't want to wade in, and out, risking slipping too. Can anyone tell me of a place there that is decent to stay overnight, with a decent price to go with it? I will basically just use the room for sleep, as I plan to fish just about the whole time there. You can pm me if you prefer. I just plan to stay one or two nights, preferably two. I know of a good place in Murfreesboro, but not at Broken Bow.
