we got a bass boat in the lake today at the store ramp. boy was it a chore. the only way we could get out was i waded in the water and pulled the boat through the shallow at the ramp. will not try that ramp again till it comes a flood. hows the other ramp? we went by it and it had 3 boat trailers at the parking lot. is it easier than the store ramp?

I saw people do it Sun but you got to be careful. Go too far and your trailer goes off the ramp and you can get stuck. Once you get off the trailer then you have to watch for the rock piles at the end of the ramp. I would shove it off and load it with a trolling motor. I wouldn't fire up the big motor until I knew I was in the clear. We were at the North ramp. Heard the South was better since they worked on it last week but you still had to be very careful. I am glad we took my buddies flat bottom instead of my Skeeter.

read it again, Based upon what I felt it is probably broken off ramp end, almost standing on end. In that position they serve as a great prop blow berm protection wall. Leaning against the ramp side of the berm they are not going to let the props blow the berm face any further back. New material the future props lift from the bottom and sides of the blow hole will either get over them, go around them or drop back down in front of them. The berm behind them will still gain height from material that can be lifted over them or passes around them.

Point of order, (I had it wrong for years also until a compass started to getting my head turned correctly). The Southern most ramp is the "store" ramp, or the ramp nearest the front gate.

Fairfield lake lays opposite to almost all lakes in Texas, few Texas bodies of water drain to the north or have dams and the deepest water on their north ends, but FF does.

Want to double check this. Stand Facing the dam, watch the sun rise on the right shoreline (park shoreline), and then set over the left shoreline. Last time I checked a map or compass if the sun rose on my right and set on my left I was facing north. That means looking at the dam I am always facing north.

Click on these suggested launch and retrieval instructions you will do just fine at Fairfield for a few more weeks without rain fall, after that you are on your own. Ramp SUGGESTIONS from a-Muck-Rock-Chucker

if the northern ramp is worse than the store ramp, we are in bad shape. what would it take to build a dam the burm or hump that we must try and get through and around build it up a little pump the water out of the hole and lenghten the existing ramp. then dig the hump out. then we would have a usable ramp that would last a long time. it would not take much dirt to build it up around the ramp as the water is shallow all the way around the ramp except the hole at the end of the ramp. i waded the boat in and out monday on our fishing trip. oh by the way once on the water we had a good time caught 3 big reds biggest was 32 inches 2 more keepers and a bunch of the rat reds.

Parker is the same height as I am (about 6-3) but I'd hafta turn sideways to get between the dock pilings and I'd be up to my knees in muck since I weigh about a hunert more pounds than him...
