AMISUGLYSTICK-- You must have been playing with your paint gun.. I do not know anything about paintguns ;; but most of the boys I know that have guns do not sit around and play with them. As Bocephys says, there is no reason for them to be searching your vehicle or boat probably without a reason. Talking about the Taser, I was reading in the Field and Stream about a "bear" pepper spray that is effective and that might slow down someone at fairly close range. They said it was better than having a fire arm to defend yourself against a bear attack.

What does the NEW LAW passed in 07 say about having a weapon in your vehiclee?? ANY where -- not just on Fed. land.. Hope this helps. Q: Can I carry a handgun without a license while driving or traveling in a motor vehicle? A: Effective September I, 2007, a person who can legally possess a firearm may possess or carry a handgun in a motor vehicle (including a recreational vehicle with living quarters) that is owned by or under the lawful control of the person. However, the firearm must be concealed, the person may not be engaged in criminal activity, and may not be a member of a "criminal street gang." The person may also carry the handgun to and from his vehicle without a license. See Texas Penal Code 5 46.02 (a). However, DPS recommends that you seek the advice of an attorney with any questions regarding the unlicensed carrying of weapons.

TexasC1 - You got me on that one. I used to live in MT deep in the heart of grizzly country and I carried that spray EVERYWHERE...It's great for bears. It has a higher percentage of oleoresin capsicum then the stuff law enforcement uses. However, not all people are affected the same way. It has been shown to affect fairer skinned individuals more than darker skinned folks...

This thread ia a fantastic example of why we need to have the Federal gov. set-up uniform regulations that allow law abiding American citizens to carry personal protection firearms in all 50 states! With the way it currently is, you can have a CC license and go from "Legal" to "Illegal" by crossing some county lines or municipal boundaries. How's that help you when you're traveling in your vehicle? The current regs are such a mess that not even the enforcement officers can stay up one them!!!

I wouldn't recommend that you try using a Taser while your fishing, on the boat ramp, or anywhere else with water nearby!!! That kind of electricity and Wet hands are just not a good mix.

We do not want the Feds involved in any way. What we need are the states to work this out to recognize each others CHL laws, such as Texas and numerious other states have done. No, no more Federal firearm laws!

I love the signs at eating places...saying guns are not allowed. Unless 50% of the revenue is beer and liquor sales then you can carry. Lot's of fake signs floating around.
Yeah, you guys need to come on down to East Texas and see some of our backwoods ramps. Ride up after a day of fishing only to find BUBBA drunk on the bank and no one around for miles and miles. The whole time your backing your bass rig in he's staring at the truck and boat like it's Thanksgiving dinner. LOL! It makes you feel secure when you have options to protect yourself! Trust me!
As for as carrying on Corp land, I've hunted many a corp lands over the years. I just couldn't see that being a rule they enforce if your not causing problems.

I was stopped a few years back in the Big Thicket preserve (in a boat on Neches river)by a ranger, this was before concealed carry law, I had a 357 pistol in dry box, ranger said "I have no problem with that". I was probably lucky but my feeling is I had rather be judged by 12 than carried by six. Unless I forget it, I will be carrying. s
If I'm not fishing or hunting I'm hunting a place to fish or hunt.

Problem is we give unilateral rights to some of these states and I wish if we gave anther states citizen a right to carry in our state we should be able to carry in their state. I have never understood why Perry does this. There should only be reciprocal agreements not unilateral agreements.

I wonder if he carries when he goes in for a six pack? Hehehe...
