You can visit www.sixoldgeezers.com web site under
->Tackle and Gear Tips and Questions
-> Need cast net dvd
or "Search" for "Need cast net dvd"

I know that as part of the Six Old Geezers fund raiser, there is an outstanding (if I may say so myself) video that discusses everything that you are asking, and how to throw a castnet.

While the video demonstrates how to prepare a "SunShine" George bait tank (I now own one of these tanks and love it :)), the treatment and preparation methods described in the video could apply to any tank or even Garbage can (if you want to use one of these for a bait tank).

The funds raised go to research and preservation of the Fish on Texoma.

Hey guys. I found the water softener salt at Lowes but all they had were crytals & pellets. Is this the right stuff? Seems like crytals & pellets wouldn't dissolve very quick.

Go Cowboys, up 17 - 0 right now!

If your tank/shad are stinky the fish WILL NOT BITE. Rinse your tank and ALWAYS make sure EVERY SINGLE shad is out. OMG for a small fish they will stink to high heaven after they sit over night dead. sick barf

The stock salt at any feed store will work better than the
softener salt as it disolves quickly I keep 20 oz water
bottles of it in my boat and use one bottle for my 30 gal tank
Also use 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide per 30 gallon tank it
helps maintain the disolved oxygen, rounded or oval bait tank
is necy as is a good filter. catching em is not hard finding
em is a little tougher. Good luck

The following is what I've heard & welcome any opinions.

1) I've heard it's best to use clean cool tap water & de-chlorinate.
2) Add 1 cup of salt to every gallon of water. What kind of salt is the best for this?
3) Use Shad Saver as directed on the bottle to reduce or eliminate the foam.
4) Keep the filter on the aerator cleaned (shad slime & scales)
5) During the warmer months keep the water cool w/ frozen bottles of water.

Is there anything I'm missing, got wrong or just some tricks of the trade? Posted under the Striper section because you are the guys that know. Thanks.

I have a 20gal Bass Pro bait tank that i installed a pump and filter. this works great. You can keep 40 to 50 shad easy. It's better for 30 shad. I also have a stone and oxygen regulator going into it. The water flows into the tank from the filter and circulates the water. I want to buy a 50 gal tank. If you would be interested in it i am wanting to sell it. $100 for the tank and $100 for the regulator and oxygen tank. The tank is about 26 L 18W 20 H est. Great tank for a homemade one. I still use it everytime I go fishing I just need some money for the new tank. PM me if you need pics. i will be posting it in the next few days. I will work on getting it to someone if they want it.

I appreciate the offer SS but I've got my 30 gallon center console bait tank set up well and should work like a charm. It is round & built into my cc so I gotta go w/ that for now. I just want to make sure I treat the water correctly. It doesn't matter how good of a tank you have if you don't treat the water correctly you can kill'em quick. Dennis, good idea w/ the water bottles, never heard of using hydrogen peroxide.
