Benny , I spoke to employees in north richland hills, mesquite, ft worth, arlington, plano, sherman, and afew more. The employees were very proud of themselves and had no problem bragging about it. Did not seem fair to me, but no one said life was fair. If you don't believe me , maybe others could chime in. As some one who has several shimano reels and rods, seemed like insider trading to me.

AC Roy,
Same thing happened to me--I went the day of the sale to a store here in FtWorth and the guy at the counter laughed and said they were all sold before the doors opened(to himself or friends) so I emailed Academy Corp and got a call from the store manager. She seemed less than pleased(pissed)so hopefully Academy won't let this happen again.

Good, Jason. Glad to hear it.

Perhaps some notice from someone who is in a store when the Citica's go on deal would alleviate a little pain.

I know it would be useless if the employees were allowed to do the same thing. Not to blame them though. How about a limit of one reel, to make it fair to everyone.

I'm not doubting that some store employees may have taken advantage of the sale...if I was an employee I would have too.
The same thing probably happens when a gun goes on clearance. However, I know that all of the reels didn't go to Academy employees. Also, we are not talking about a lot of product. Some stores had 1 or 2, and many had none.
You didn't get lucky this time...maybe you will next time.

Not to hijack the thread but since Benny is already posting to this one I have a question....

Is Shimano discontinuing the 50MG's? Everyone is "out of stock".

BTW, bought my first E7 yesterday and so far I'm in lust. I've got to sell a couple of "Brand AG" wink reels and I'll be buying a couple more grin

benny is right most stores only had a handful of curados left, i know at the academy in waco most of the empolyees only got 1 and i think 1 empolyee got 2.

i think the limit of 1 reel to the empolyee is fair.

Well, whatever the case, it just seems like Shimano doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that Academy employees bought all or at least most of the reels before stores were opened. I talked to 3 different guys who bought more than one, they all 3 said they sold them on Ebay. But I guess its easier to dismiss it than to actually do something about it.I don't blame the Academy employees, though their not real bright bragging about it to cuistomers. But not what I expected from Shimano.I'll get off my soapbox now.

AC Roy, I don't understand your anger directed at Shimano, they have no control over Academy employees. If you have a problem with how the clearance was handled, call Academy corporate and lodge your complaint with them, after all, it was the action of their stores that ires you. Once any distributer/manufacturer sells their product to a company for retail sale they have little say in how the retailer conducts their business. As such, your expectations from Shimano are completely unwarranted, and your rant misdirected. Derek

Since Benny Landrum has decided to post, I have a couple of questions about Symetre spinning reels.

First: When are the Symetre FJs going to become available.

Second: Is Shimano discontinuing rear drag Symetres, and Spirexs?

Thank you,
TFP

Above all else hold these two things in the greatest of circumspection; government and self.

Some of the new Symetre's are shipping now all of them will be out by sometime in Oct.
Yes, at this time they are not making rear drag versions of these reels.

sdpfish, I just asked what he thought about it originally. His Typical salesman dismissal was what fueled my next responses. It really doesn't matter, just responding to your post.

Got my new E5 yesterday and caught a bass on it second cast. Casts great, retrieves great, feels light, etc...

What else would you ask for in a $179 reel??

I think they hit a homerun.

Ken
