I'm sure it's been done but I'll ask anyway. Anybody ever tried this? Maybe tip the hooks with corn or honey baked ham under a bobber. At the coast i've caught as many as 7 perch at one time on one cast with a sabiki. Littler fish but it's kinda fun to haul in that many at one time.

I used the eagle claw with the white shrimp at walmart the other day. The very first cast i caught a 10.5 inch redear on it! My brother used and he caught a double but we caught mostly singles with it. The rest were bluegills. I put it under a small crappie float with a split shot with enough weight that will get it down but not drag the bottom. This is so i fish different depths. I used a slow steady retrieve along grasslines and drop offs.

I'd be afraid of getting hooked by all the combined flopping

I have used a sabiki tipped with spam and maybe some other stuff I can't remember. It will catch more bluegill than you want to see, but it hangs up a lot where I fish.

They work great in salt water for what we call piggy perch in Texas, or pinfish. There's not much to hang up on in salt water.

A sabiki rig is for catching baitfish in saltwater

Wouldn't be about the same thing to tie 4 or 5 small jigs on our main line?
Could the no more than 5 hooks per drop line or jugs be construed to make the 6 hook rig illegal when fishing for crappie?
I have only used the rig once from the pier in Galveston years ago. It was fun when 3 or 4 fish got on it.

I used them on Florida lakes but haven't tried them out here. Used to drift for crappie with several rods out, using an assortment of minnows, jigs, spinners, etc. I always included a Sabiki rig. Caught bream, crappie, and LMB.
Used them in salt water all the time to catch baitfish. I probably have one or two in the box- I'll tie one on next time out.

I fish from atop a spillway wall so fishing vertically would be no problem. Guess I have to get by Academy and see if they carry them, if not get some 1/32 jigs or some small streamer flys and try to rig something up. Be fun on an otherwise dull day at the spillway.

We use sabiki rigs over at florida and have tried them in our local ponds!
they seem to work great with a small float on top and small weight on the bottom to keep rig straight.
We have even used berkleys maggots and corn for bait.
I usually set up two poles, because they do get tangled up. this is the rig I use for my son, when he is getting bored!

I would rather have a bad day fishing, than a good day at the office!
