Yes Scott, that is exactly what I was talking about. It seems a lighter though might make things worse on the first fly or two till ya get the hang of it though... thanks so much for the info. I will definitely do better next go round thanks to your help.

When putting the mylar over the hook eye spear the mylar with your Bodkin where you want the eye to go then stick the Bodkin point in the hook eye and work the Mylar off the shaft onto and over the hook eye. Keep the Bodkin point in the hook eye till you finish.

My Walmart has small stuff called trimming in silver and gold. This is good for small flys like 12 and 10 but I have not found larger stuff there.

I am sure that will help, thanks. It seems harder than I originally thought...I made two flies last night, neither look the way I want them...lol. Anyway I appreciate the tips.

Try Target or a sewing store.

You should see some of the looks I get from the ladies when in the beads and yarn sections.

Y'all are funny. I do the same thing, but they pay me no attention at all. I guess it is a little unusual for grown men to be in the bead dept...hehehe. But hey, I totally understand. I browse those places too. Made a couple of crease flies today. Now I have to either try 5 min epoxy, or go with my old stand by of Sally's. Hey y'all need to load up on nail polish while y'all are at Wal-Mart. Get clear, and black nail polish, and you will really have those heads turnin out there. ROTFL.

If anyone looks too long you can explain that the nail polish is for your fly making, to cover thread....let me know their reaction. popcorn2
