Evans is the President of FLW Outdoors, but Irwin Jacobs owns FLW Outdoors and the Genmar boat brands.

Howard you are right. I was mistaken. I talked with Charlie Evans today and what a lengthy conversation it was. Jacobs asked Evans a short time back what he could to supposedly maximize profits without expending more advertising costs. Evans had the power to hold the organization as is or, stab the saltwater series through the heart. So shall we live, so shall we die........ Evans made the call either way... Its a shame Operation Bass grew into FLW Outdoors in honor of Forrest Wood himself then "shrunk" into what it is now. If it was all about money in the first place why even try???

All this is signs of the poor economy, poor economy = advertisers cutting cost and in professional fishing sponsors play a HUGE role, a similiar thing is happening in nascar. Last year BASS reduced their tournament schedule from 14 events to 11 by eliminating the majors, next year there will be no co-anglers. FLW also is reducing the # of entries in tournaments from 200 boats to 150 next year. Both BASS and FLW are hurting somewhat, I wonder if a merger is coming in the future.

A sad enough statement is that it seems logical. If FLW was hurting that bad, then they should have sold the organization of the saltwater series to Sealy Outdoors, or IFA association. I just would like to see the redfish series live on.... I really hate it for Dan and Sondra Grimes. They built this with their own hands....... I believe there is an alterior motive involved in such a lack of sponsor...... Charlie Evans has helped me in the past so I don't quite see the reason the Cup and IFA grows but FLW loses sponsors?
