To do that the GW would have to have a mobile on-line computer, tied in to a TP&W database, such as the police have in their units, when they run your DL. Not practical yet. As it is, the burden of proof is on the angler. I carry my fishing license in my wallet, just as I do my DL. Where is there a problem??

I think you could get another fishing license but a combo would be hard to get. If it was that easy, my brother would probably kill 25-30 bucks during season.

As far as a "mobile on-line computer" ... I think that could be achieved with a cell phone and a secure web page. Failing that, a "voice response unit" and a regular cell phone. Please enter DL# ... beep beep beep beep ... DL# for person XYZ does/does NOT have a valid fishing license.
As for there being a problem with the current system ... I don't think there is technically a problem. The rules today say that one must carry the paper fishing license ... all that is being suggested is an alternative that would make life that "little bit simpler".
Personally I have variously lost my wallet, had my wallet stolen, left my wallet at home and fallen in the lake and had the contents of my wallet get soaked and ruined (thankfully not all in one week).
Anyway ... this thought stemmed from the idea that if one purchases a fishing license but didn't physically have it on them when inspected, they would get a ticket. I think with today's technologies, that seems a little odd.

I had a friend who moved from Texas to Montana. He was not much of a fisherman here but up there he really got into it plus the white water rafting. They put all licenses on his DL - only thing is it cost $250 every 4 years. Might be hard for some folks to come up with all at once.
Yes, he had to have a license to kayak.

Can someone tell me if you can't find your license can the game warden look it up fron drivers license? My son-in law is visiting and we were going fishing in am. If you cannot find your license go to Wal-Mart and tell them you need a replacement license. They will ask you a few questions to ensure the license is gone and not coming back and then charge you $10 for a replacement. I had to do this last year when I lost my wallet. Took no more then 10 minutes and $10.00. Tim T hit right on the head. This is all you have to do. I have had to do it before, when we moved houses, some how I lost my several years ago.

No, he will get a ticket. The law clearly states that your license must be on your person when fishing/hunting. If you believe that you better hope you are never involved in a lawsuit over that issue.
