Ok we have ice. Ready Ice from Waco and Mickey's convenience stores in Killeen. Now I just need to figure out how to get 30 25lb bags of ice, still frozen from Killeen. I'm looking at the large styrofoam coolers that Wal Mart has. I figure it'll take 8-10 of them. Right now I plan to pick up the ice about 4:30am Sat. Any ideas?
The glass isn't always half empty or half full...sometimes there's just too much glass.

Anyone have any donut connections? lol Shiply's in SW Austin is willing to donate 12 dozen donuts but that is waaaay too far for me to go on Saturday morning. Stacey Ardoin(pronuounced Ardwann)is the Director of Marketing and Community Giving at the corporate office in Houston. Well she has been pointing me to stores and trying to help, but that's not going so well. I called Round Rock donuts and they can't donate but can sell me 16 dozen donuts for around $80. So I went ahead and ordered some in case I can't find a donor. I told Zach that's a tank of gas to get to the Austin donut place...lol. Anyone have any other ideas?
I'm borrowing our church's coffee urn for that morning. So hopefully we will have donuts, coffee, juice, and water for everyone...that's my plan anyway. I'm going to haul it there that morning and set up a table with all the goodies near the ramp.

Ok guys and gals I just received a box from Bill Dance himself! Wowsas! He sent 6 Blooper videos, some autographed pictures, and a couple of autographed caps. I was talking to Dave and I think we agreed to raffle the hats off. Not sure on the specifics yet. I was so excited when I opened the box!

Hey guys the Briskets have been donated by the Owner's of Fantastic Sam's in Taylor. We heard from them today and Dave will be picking them up. Due to some mis/non communication, it was implied that they were not going to donate after all. They ARE donating and we thank them for this generous donation.
I apologize for anything that I said negatively about the ordeal.

Woo Hoo.. Thinking about brisket all day long has made me Hungry! Thank you Fantastic Sams! And thank you John Christopher with Sloppysecondsonline.com for cookin' it up for us. I would also like to thank all of the donaters individually but that list is so long I wouldn't know where to start. So all I can say is thanks all and God Bless each and everyone of you. You have made this dream into a reality.
Keep on fishing.

I wanted to give you an idea of where we are with donations. For a more detailed list visit the take a soldier fishing website under the Granger Event.
As of this second we have been given approximately $5500 worth of merchandise for the bbq, door prize drawing, and goody bags. This does not include any monetary donations made by businesses or individuals. Not bad for our first year huh!

Allright a update from the coors side. The banners are ready and I will pick them up tomorrow. Also Coors has donated 3 fishing rods and reels. They are those telescoping poles and slide down real small but they are kind of neat. Also have about 50 caps donated by the shiner beer guy, 50 koozies donated by the lone star guy, 40 stress releaving squeeze cans by coors, and I think the corona guy is going to donate about 50 or so key chains. Coors is also donating 5 cases of silver refreshments for the ice chests. I did try to get a coke guy to pitch in some cokes but he said he couldnt.

Those will add greatly to the goody bags! Don't worry about the soda, I gotcha covered. Temple Bottling Company will be providing 10 cases of soda and water. Way to go! You guys are amazing! This is going an event that will be talked about by these soldiers all year! Way to put Lake Granger on the map!
