MY HEART IS BROKEN,I HAVE BEEN ENTERING THE STAR TOURNAMENT FOR THE PASS TEN YEARS AND I CAUGHT A TAGGED RED FISH IN JUNE. THOUGHT I WON THE LOTTERY I WILL NEVER FORGET THAT FEELING IN MY LIFE. BUT TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THEY SAID THAT I FAILED THE POYLGRAPH TEST. THERE WAS NO WAY THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN. THE EXAMINER SAID TO ME IN THE INTERVIEW THAT I DON'T EVEN STRIKE HIM AS THE TYPE THAT LIKE TO FISH. I CAN NOT AFFORD A LAWYER SO IM STUCK. BROTHERS YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH WHAT IM GOING THRUOGH. I AM A HOUSTON FIREFIGHTER, ALL MY FRIENDS CALLED TO CONGRAULATE ME, BUT NOW IM FIGHTING FOR MY DIGNITY. IM DON'T CARE ABOUT THE TRUCK AND BOAT ANYMORE IT'S, BUT TO SAY I AM A LIER HOW CAN I GET THAT BACK.

I AM THE NEXT VICTIM OF THE CCA STAR TOURNAMENT 2011. THE IS NOT A FAIR DEAL. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT WHEN YOU SAID THAT THE POYLGRAPH PEOPLE ARE IN ON THE TAKE. THEY KNOW WHO'S GOING TO PASS AND WHO WILL FAIL BEFORE THEY EVEN HOOK YOU UP. THE EXAMINER SAY I DON'T STRIKE HIM AS THE KIND OF GUY THAT LIKES TO FISH. NOW YOU EXPLAIN THAT ONE TO ME. THIS TOURNAMENT IS RIGGED.

WOW Unbelievable!!! I have heard bad things about the CCA. There tends to be a pattern here.

Schoffield what they are doing is criminal. It seems this is happening far to often. You may go talk to the District Attorney to see if their office will investigate.

scho... start a new thread, this one is pretty old. CCA is a BS front organization designed to line the pockets of a few people....

Polygraph is only as good as the examiner and then it's completely subject to the examiner's interpretation. It's not an exact science. Innocent people fail it and guilty people pass it. I don't trust 'em and I've been a cop for over 20 years. Just my 2 pennies.

I still have beef with the CCA over my 23" flounder I caught when I was 17. Easily best fish in the Juniors but I turned 18 in the middle of STAR, therefore my entry was "fradulent, entered in wrong category". Big ol middle finger from the people running it. Now I savor those days I take a limit home, ON ICE!!

Just sad. With all of the money the CCA takes in as a non-profit they should,at LEAST,pay for this guy's polygraph test.

Catch plenty,keep few.

All I can say is my heart goes out to ya.

Don't let it give your fishing any bad vibes - it's just the business end of things and that's not always pleasant when dealing with problems like this.

Good Luck to ya !!!

What the heck does that mean??? Everyone that goes fishing is supposed to dress like the Gordan's fisherman and talk like a pirate. That is ridiculous. When I was a kid, I used to idolize the CCA (or GCCA back in the day) but I have heard overwhelmingly negative things about them for some years now. Sad that they are screwin the people most likely to support them.

It does sound fishy with those kind of questions. They have to ask standard questions to get a feel for when your telling the truth. Then they should ask about the fish. There is a reason polygraph test are not admissible in court. They don't work on everybody. Liars pass and truthfully people fail. A good tester though uses the test to get to the truth. The test itself tells you nothing. It is terrible if people are being truthful and being messed over. The truth is though people lie. So they have to do something. It seems like the only question needed for a tagged red fish is did you catch it? I would recommend bringing your attorney to the test. If they wont let your attorney in, then its obvious they are trying to do something crooked.

First of all, I am sorry it turned out the way it did for you Schoffield. It sucks big time. If I were you I would demand to take it again with a tester of my choice. They should at least let you take it twice, and with your attorney present.
But guys, this is the internet. Do you actually believe everything you read here???? Why would the CCA and their sponsors NOT want to give away prizes??? Why would they not want people to win???
I just got through reading all the rules and it does state that you MUST pass a polygraph in order to win.
Were any of you with this guy when he took the test? Did any of you hear first hand the things that were supposedly said to him??
-Steve

Simple solution seems to be to have someone in your boat videotape you catching the fish or take a picture of it before you release it.

My solution to the problem is that I haven't renewed my CCA membership in several years. That's for other issues though. Boycot the tournament. Some people/organizations don't get the message until you hit 'em in the pocketbook.

SORRY FOR THE LONG DELAY,I AM REALLY WORKING HARD ON GETTING SOME ONE TO DO SOME TYPE OF INVESTIGATION ON HOW THIS TOURNAMENT CAN CONTINUE TO GET AWAY WITH WHAT THEY ARE DOING.I TURNED MY FISH IN AND IT WAS STILL ALIVE, FLOPPING ON THE COUNTER AT THE YACHT BASIN.BUT NO BOAT NO TRUCK. NOW PULL UP THE WINNERS FOR 2011 AND YOU TELL ME WHO'S LYING.
