I quit going to State Parks because of this attitude towards Anglers some time ago... Tawakoni is at the Top of the list.

There are plenty of other places to put in that will Smile when they take your camping/ tournament launch fees.

It is a shame that she is ruining a very nice park. It is one of the nicest around. Yes, she told me there was a new sherrif in town. Is is $5.00 to launch? I get the yearly pass for two vehicles. Think about it 60 boats = $300.00 or 200 boats = $1000.00, not brainer for a little trouble one day. If she is a new breed of TPWD employees, they need to get them out. And, in a hurry.

I have taken the family and camped and launched from the park many times over the past few years and I am starting to look for another place to stay. First time I stayed there, I had my camper in the site with my truck and boat backed up in front of the camper. I did not realize that the front tire of my truck was barely off the pavement. She knocked on my camper door after 10 at night and told me if I did not move it that I would have a ticket by morning. Not very nice about it. Just recently my wife got here with the camper an hour before I did. When I arrived I told them that my wife had already signed in and paid and I had a pass, so you would think there would be no problem. The lady at the window was very rude and told me she did not think so and I needed to park and come in. It took 30 minutes before they got to me and realized I was already signed in. I was furious at this point. When I go to the parks with the boat and the camper, I can usually pull through the gate and park and go to the office to sign in. Never had a problem doing this. Did it once at Tawakoni and someone came out of the office yelling at me asking me what I thought I was doing. I have always liked staying at the State Parks and just got back from Caddo State park for Memorial Day weekend. Staff there was great. Tawakoni is a nice park, but the staff is the worst that I have ever seen. I hope here bosses do read this because my family will not be back.

i am sure tournies will still be held on the lake, just not out of the state park. that side of the lake will become a financial dead-zone and there wont be any anglers dollars being spent over there. ya reap what ya sew! hope the new sherriff enjoys the barren wasteland she is trying to create! maybe shes just lazy and wants to run everyone off so she wont have to do anything????

I will say the Parks Departments typically want to keep there customers happy. My wife and I went to another park close to Dallas a few years ago and the park host chewed my wife out. It was after dark and he stopeed her in her car and shined a bright light in her face and asked her what her problem was. The more I thought about it the more mad I got. I stopped in at the office and told the Park Ranger who was not happy with my story. He filed a formal complaint and appologized. I went back a few months later and before checking in I wanted to talk to the Ranger to make sure all was ok with us coming back. He said our complaint was strike three and the park host was gone and he welcomed us back. So maybe the Tawakoni situation will take care of itself. I really do like that park, but will only put up with so much BS.

I agree. I think it is her lazyness. The park was built for recreation and scenery. The park is the reason that bigger trails like BassMaster Weekend series, BassChamps, Media, and CABA even started making Tawakoni a regular stop. Now because of one ridiculous person, we may have lost them all.

I do not think that tournament trails will boycott the lake 100% but it is such a pain to have 20 boats launch hear, and 20 boats launch there. The facilities are perfect at the State Park and it sucks that this has happened. I live 20 miles from Tawakoni and it really sucks that one individual can negate this much business. With gas being $4 gallon, staying close to home was always a benefit.

I hope they make a change soon because it seems like our tax dollars have gone to waste on this one. What a SHAME....

Our Club held a small tournament at the Tawakoni SP at the same time as Media was hosting one of their fine, well organized events.

Needless to say, parking for everyone was a bit tight.

After weigh-in, one of our members had the right tire of his boat trailer off the pavement by about three inches, and the SP attendant marched over and gave us all a childish scolding regarding our negligence and disrespect for proper ramp area parking and threatened him with a citation.....WTF?!!!

We can only hope. fishmagnet, do you not like Media?

I tried. Left a message but no return call. Bet this is a hot topic with her right now and the calls are coming in faster than she can return them. I hope they act on these complaints! Something needs to change to assure the future outlook of the park.

I hope there is special room in hades reserved for government bureaucrats that go out of their way to inflict headaches for tax paying citizens all because they have some power and just want to show off.

You people have no reason to be MAD the new sheriff is doing what she is paid to do & THAT IS TO PROTECT THE VISITORS to the park t ...... The park has a quiet time from 10pm til 6am & you come in at 5am that is waking up the campers that pay their money to have a relaxing time ......Now as for launching your boats YOU ARE STILL SUPPOSE TO PAY A FEE TO LAUNCH all the pass is for are to get you in the park NOT GET A FREE LAUNCH OF THE BOATS YOU IDIOTS bring with you if you want a free launch THEN GO TO A PUBLIC RAMP ........OH did I say I also have a PASS & I do use it often at serveral different parks Plus I have the LIFE MEMBER pass for the CORP lakes & that is good all over the UNITED STATES.......SO GET THE CHIP OFF YOUR SHOULDERS ^ GO TO THE PUBLIC RAMPS
