The mount sure doesn't look like the fish itself. But hey great catch you should still be proud. Congrats thumb

Not sure who did the taxidermy work, but I can understand your not being 100% satisfied. Not sure which species it is but neither the shape, nor the color looks like your picture.

Have you had a chance to talk to the taxidermist?

Kyle

Ok, without rehashing whats already been said, congrats on a fantastic slab.

My .02 the picture and the mount look nothing alike, If that were mine, I would be very upset about it. The mount appears off color, and too dang glossy...

I would give the mount a five out of ten possible. The color is way way off. If I just saw the mount, I'd say it was pretty good. But it is not even close to the original picture, or the second picture. I could not say about size comparison, did you measure the mount to see if it is close? The mount also is a little too shiny. Sorry but you asked, and that is my honest opinion.

Thanks for all the comments fellers. I did measure the replica. The length is right on, but the girth is 5/8" short. The color thing is my fault. I carried that BLACK crappie around in the live well for over a half a day in the tourny before getting a pic. I wanted the taxidermist to work with the colors cause he faded a little in the live well. It is a black crappie. I turned the fish yesterday so it is lookin up a little, does look better.

Fish mounts are like haircuts. Some your going to be more happy with than others. However, to the folks just looking at it, the mounts your more happy with look the same as the ones your not so happy with.

It's a good looking fish and will do it's purpose; keep that day fresh in your memory and be a topic of conversation starter for years to come. It's an "artists" interpretation, you have the photographs for the exact replication.

Only one that has to be satisfied is yourself. That is a quality fish, a crappie that few are able to locate, catch and get in the boat.

Congrats,
