I know this has been around before, but I did not take note of it when it happened.

What is (in your opinion) the best senko rod out there? Cost is not an issue...

when I throw a senko or the rattlesnake(in the last few weeks)... i use a medium heavy with mono or a heavy rod with a bigweight for punching them in the grass. G Loomis IMX 843 is my rod for heavyweight flipping.

I really like the Falcon weightless worm special. Some don't like it and say it is too soft, but it has worked well for me. I have the lowrider and cara models of it. I also use a Cara 5-166. coach

683CEF or 684CEF Powell depending on which action you prefer...Tuesday Rockwall Marine had 1 of each of those.

Check'em out.

Judd - I have a Powell swimbait and I really like it. I know Falcons are good rods, but I really like the powells. they feel solid and as we all know, its all about feel.

I fish 5-7 inch senkos and the bigger rattlesnakes. I usually use 12-15lb YoZuri Hybrid and I'm fishing mostly in brush. I am using a Daiwa 6'6" Tough & Light worm rod now. Its great for casting and feel, but there is very little backbone on the hookset/fight. Let me ask you this, of the two models you referenced, is there any functional difference in casting the lighter baits? Obviously, the Heavier model is more ridgid. Can you give me your opinion with what I am throwing? Thanks

This past weekend I purchased the 684 and have been pond testing it with weightless worms and senkos. The 684 has the tip for the smaller worms and the backbone to pull 2-3 pounders out of weed/slop. I fished it with a 5 inch senko and it was great. I think it would handle a 7 inch senko but I have not tried one that heavy yet.

Time will tell if I like my Powell as much as my Kistlers. I would think the Kistler Senko Special would be a great tool as well but I do not have that model to give a side by side comparison.

I should start by saying I have only fished the rattlesnake once and it does seem to have more drag than a Senko when casting. I prefer a Senko.

Based upon what you are saying I would want at least a 7 foot rod and the reason I say this is because when I set the hook around cover I want to move the fish out or away from whatever it is they are in. A smaller rod just doesn't move the line the bigger rods do. Yes, the stiffer rod is going to sacrifice a little on casting but I will give that up to have the ability to hammer down on the fish.

So based upon you saying that I would use a 704CEF or I might even try a 734CF. The Fast tip vs the Extra Fast tip might be the perfect rod for what you are doing. The action that each person wants for different applications are different and I tend to lean towards the side of having more backbone than not enough when it comes to plastic baits.

Crankbaits I actually prefer glass rods. My 2 cents, worth exactly what you paid for them grin
