I use Eagle Claw 5/0 circle hooks. I've been pretty happy with the results over the past 5 weeks.

$1 a piece and not stainless should reel themselves in ?? The hooks I am using are under $20 for a pack of 50... If you want expensive, I spen $2/hook for the stainless 15/0 circle hooks I use for saltwater.

I prefer Mustad circle hooks. 2/0 - 5/0 since I don't fish for huge catfish. I don't mind catching them though.

I did find that it is not a good idea, for me anyways, to test circle hooks along side some other hooks. When that clicker is screaming it's hard to remember which pole has the circles and which don't. All or none. That's the only way to go if you are fishing multiple rigs. I prefer all, except my punch bait rod and she gets trebles.

You pay for 3 things with all the Team Catfish hooks. 1. They are the sharpest hooks anywhere. 2. They are stronger than stainless when you match up the sizes. 3. The designs of hooks are not equal. The adventages of the DOUBLE ACTION catfish hooks are. You can burn the reel to set the hook. You can let the catfish hook themselves. You can set the hook. We have the widest gap of any self setting hooks. We have a patented bait stop barb on the inside of the shank of the hooks that helps keep your baits in place. The DOUBLE ACTION catfish hook is a catfish hook for every situation, every day. They are more exepensive than most, but there is no equal to this hooks design.

Ours won't rust eaisly. I have never seen any rust on them. I have never heard of anyone else mentioning rust either.
I have never set them out on setlines for weeks at a time as I rod and reel catfish mostly. I have sold lots of hooks to setliners with no complaints of rust.
Interesting question though. I will ask our manufacturer.

Cabelas, Dicks sporting goods, TeamCatfish.com, TTI-Blakemore.com, CatfishSafari.com, CatfishConnection.com and they are making their way into tackle shops all over the US this year.
Hope this helps.

i don't favor SS necessarily for how strong they but because they don't rust yea that seems to be the biggest issue with many non SS hooks, even on rod and reel after you throw em back in the box. Another thing ive noticed with whisker stickers, tru turns, etc. is how fast they lose their point, it seems that the hook isnt sharp after one or two uses.

with non SS hooks, once you sharpen'um the point goes into high gear as far as rustin' cuz you knock off what that coatin' that was put on there

I gota agree with Albert on the stainless. I tried several brands non stainless. the worst was a 5/0 VMC, it lasted 3 days in Ivie and the barb was completly gone and the point was beyond sharpning. I use the 175 SS 8/0 eagle claw 4X strong,( I think thats the right #) and bend the offset in I like.
