Yes I do appreciate folks that practice Catch And Release.
Including me. I personally keep about 100 fish per year (it's just me and my wife). I also don't catch and then give fish to other folks. When fishing by myself, it's just to find the fish, and not really to catch them at all other than to make sure they are there and then move on. Fishing with friends or family members, they pretty much know me and understand it's catch and release. And for Sand Bass, Hybrids, I pretty much never keep any unless they are bad hurt and will not make it (then I have to clean them). What I keep and eat is a few Crappie each year.
For Customers it's whatever they want to do (keep or not). That has to be up to them. I have several customers (regulars and some first timers) each year that catch and release or just keep enough for a good fish fry or two and then release the rest. Lot's (really most) of my customers don't fish at all, and that one time every few years with a guide is all they ever do.
Catch and Release is good for the sport of fishing. That applies to all fish (not just Black Bass) and should be practiced year round and not just during spawn. Any fish taken out of the lake is out of the breeding program (regardless if it is currently carrying eggs now or will be the following Spring).
I applaud all folks that Catch and Release
