Just wanted to let you guys know I have also felt the pain of the winter fishing on Lewisville , but today the Good Lord shined down on us . I took the Sandlinbasses and my step son and we got them good. They were all 10 to 20 feet and everywhere in between. 95% of the fish came on Humdingers bounced slowly off the bottom and some on Silver Dollar Slabs the same way . We had some surface action but not a whole lot. We had couple Hybrids and the rest sandies. We ended up with about 75 fish , and missed probably just as many . All fish released to finish the spawn and produce more . Water was 60.9 F on the Lowrance and Secondary points did the trick.

I fish LL a lot. I have not had any luck for sandbass this year. I would love any tips or location. Last year I did well.

Where were you fishing??

The worst times fishing are still better than the best time thinking about it.

Ditto. I was out today and like the last 5 times... nuthin. Was hopin the overcast skys would help but no. Gotta say though, I decided to look more for LMB today that sandies or hybrids. But when I did try for them (easy to find), lock jaw as usual. I'm interested in your comment about secondary points. Watched the FSN Southwest show this morn and Barry was talkin bout the points around creek mouths becuz of all the floodin. Didnt have a chance to try that this morn. Even though it was overcast, it was nice having NO WIND! That was a big forecast change, they were predicting strong winds until they revised yesterday.

The points a good bit east of the I35 bridge on the north side of the lake is were we caught the fish. Found some shad flippin on top and the fish were pushin em up on these points. I kept telling myself that the water has got to be above 60 F to get these fish active . I guess sometimes you get lucky . The low pressure overcast day with slight winds was a recipe for sucess.Good Luck hope you have similar results . Nice to have a good steady lure bite back.

gizzard flip put us on the action today. we tore em up. I've almost decided to invest all my cash in the humdingers. All fifty dollars in the bank that is. Has been tough, but days like today make it great

good job gizzard! my wife and i were out there saturday afternoon for a couple of hours. started out kitty fishing with little luck then changed over to sandies and found them. we noticed a small boat show by twin poles and one boat had three guys in it was doing very well with slabs. so we went toward the old cut through and the birds were working and the fish finder lit up.(its been awile since i seen that) all fish were up high for us infact there was small schools on top that would last for seconds then go down. fish were caught on humdingers (chart), rattle traps (1/4oz silver and black), xcaliber rattle bait (silver and black). females were full of eggs. we caught around 20 or so, we had a dinner apt so had to leave the fun. all released. weird seeing flat water on lake.

I also appreciate the excellent report, the release, and the renewed hope that one day, I too, will again catch fish on LL

Outfishdya,

You need to save that 50 dollars for gas in my boat ;D .....
It was fun and cant wait to go back.

Mark,

Save me some fish down at RC , I know it is about to go nuts down there. My .02 there is not a better Hybrid lake in Texas.

California Jeff ,

I am sure it will only get better , just keep your presentaion slow not a lot of fish caught fith a ton of lure action. The most were tight to bottom .. Hope this helps.

Thanks Gizz. That was one of the places I usually check but didnt this time out. Figures. I was over by the big dam in about 65' of water when the graph went black and the depth suddenly dropped to 5'. The shad were so thick, it was amazing.
