You tell me.....Fished five days this week. Easily caught over 200 fish. Six made it out of the park and never saw the freezer.........Been fishing there for 20+ years. Always five times the number of folks you wish were there. Always folks taking short fish.

Yeah, it's just like that down there... Maybe everybody is hearing good reports from the Narrows on the Internet somewhere and goes down there.

You can:
1) Walk for 5 minutes. This will put you far away from 90% of the crowd. People who can't pick up their trash generally fear exercise and prefer to fish around trash. Maybe it reminds them of home.
2) Go somewhere else on the lake. There are other spots. I won't tell where, but they're out there. Don't let the spawn get you down. Get up early, walk a little, go on a weekday. Go in February. Go in May (what? May?).

Goin there tomorrow. You can bet I'll be calling 1-800-792-4263 to report any/all undersized fish on a stringer. I'll even make comments to those that I see putting a small fish on their stringer. I don't want any confrontations, but enough is enough! I'm not a brave person. But, I've already had one confrontation with a group of people. I was out numbered, and I shut up. I guess I was a coward for it but, I didn't see any reason to have to fight my way out of the creek.

Just to be clear... I understand the TX Parks & Wildlife limits for "whitebass" to be 25 fish per person, and a Minimum of 10" long? I'm tired of not following through. It will be up to the GW to respond to my complaint. I'll let you all know what happens. Don't let me catch you breaking the law tomorrow!

Shut up and fish!

banana banana Thank you!!! catchnrelease!!!!!! You are trying to be the solution to a problem, not just point at it a want someone else to fix it. You are a true sportsman and Texan! I would never confront a group. I would be much safer to speak one on one. I will not do that because these days we just never know what crazy we may bump into. I say call the TPWD 800# and if it is unsafe call the County LEO right now.

If it is fished out, and should be closed why are you still fishing there?

First about 2 hours Sunday afternoon. Generally do not like fishing there on the weekends. Caught 16 fish, all on various flys. All released! Spinner folks were not catching much. Bank folks were not catching much. Still to early.

i agree with Whitebasser i have not been yet because to me it sounds like it is still too early. you give it another week or so with warm weather and the fishing will be good. and as Deckhand said if it is fished out why have you gone back. if ya want to call me stupid for driving from east bell county to the san gabe in about 1-2 weeks when the bite really starts because you think it has been overfished. you go ahead i will be sure to take some pics.

Fished the SG Sunday. Caught 12 fish total on chartruse and white flies. I fished upstream from dickerson's bottom/or "the steps". Not as many people fishing as I thought there would be. Most everyone had a few fish on their stringers. The fish seemed to start biting late. I caught most of mine after 5PM. I was about to leave around 4:30 or 5PM when a group of flyfishermen showed up and started catching at the first rapids near "the Steps" where I just left. LOL. Whitebasser, was that you? If so glad to see you. I went back upstream and caught more.

I'm not sure what to think about this year's spawn. I guess only time will tell. I'll take yellowcat's advice and come back in a week or two.

Good luck to all. Remember to always report poaching to the TX Parks and Wildlife 1-800-792-4263.

Well if the weather man is right, so 50/50, we are about to get alot of rain here in Hutto (and SG river area). Probably gonna get the current moving pretty good. Any thoughts on how it will effect the spawn.

On another note. Will i look like a total tool if seen picking up trash? It really urks me that there is so much trash. I even feel guilty leaving an area i have fished and not picking up the trash others have left in the area. My dad and i use to bring a 30 gallon trash bag with us every once and a while when we fished on Ft. Hood. I might start doing the same at SG river area. Its really just pathetic how people act. So if you see someone lugging around a big ole trash bag say hello smile

If I see you I will say hello and help you sack up the lesser human discarded trash.
