I was down there this past week. The burn ban was a downer. We caught whites up river from the island, around the turn. We were using red head/ gray seemed to increase the strikes. Good luck, bring your float tube!

And to think...all the fish I had to catch, to get where I am today...

Has a great time there this weekend. Cold weather shook up the fishing - had to work to get them. I found them in the channels between the rocks - 4 to 6 feet of water. White rooster tails or white roadrunners with twister tails were the ticket for mine. Saw a fair number of folks using live bait that was effective. Definitely need waders, float tube or small boat to access the fish.

Let me know how you do!

I was there all weekend and did alright for my first "real" white bass fishing. Caught 4 keepers on Saturday evening on silver superduper wading near the little island. Sunday was tougher took all day to catch anything 2 12-13" on silver superduper as well. White anything was working well but too many little ones.

To busy fishing. Not enough time for reporting I guess. I hope to make it up there soon. I thought I was going next weekend, but didn't realize it was Easter. I still might try and get up there. I'm too old to easter-egg-hunt anyway. LOL.

I've just returned from a quick 2-day camping trip to CBSP. It's packed. First morning, went to the island upstream and Chief caught a couple. Decided to head further upstream in search of moving water and it paid off...

Hiked about a mile up from the park. Caught limits. Used minnows, jigs, roadrunners - white and chartreuse. I saw the most spawning action I've EVER seen...extremely widespread and even in inches of water - sometimes whites swam right into us. My girlfriend managed to pick up a stunned male barehanded that had smacked into her leg (she let it go, of course).

I believe the run will be over within a week.

Are there many boats in the water or most everyone wade fishing? Sounds like the fishing is finally picking up. Thanks for the report.
