Went to the steps Thursday and caught 2 small males and on 12 inch crappie. I fished there 3 times last month and kept hearing stories of lots of whites being caught just haven't been there on the right day yet I guess. It does seem like the fly fisherman with sinking tips are doing better on very small Clauser minnows white and chartreuse. I will be bringing the fly rod next week.

I fished the steps Thursday with my fly rod and clousers about 0830. No luck. I moved upstream and caught a couple. Had to leave about 11 because of a family emergency. I didn't see many fish being caught. I'm thinking there's still more to come as soon as the water warms up a little more. Good luck to you all.

Shut up and fish!

Went out this morning from 6:30 to 9am, it was pretty slow. Many people fishing, but only a few catching anything. I sure hope the haven't started running yet. I saw quite a few small white bass chasing minnows and shad. Also, the perch were biting, we moved to stay away from them. The perch were eating all our minnows. The fish I did see caught were bigger than past years, but no where near the numbers.

Hit up Tejas Saturday and caught some SMALL whites. Quickly gave that up and found a nice school of crappie. I reeled in some of the biggest I have seen. The largest of the bunch I caught was 14" with nothing under 12" on the stringer. I didnt even have to throw anything back! I was just using river minners and a cork. You will have to hike to catch anything significant. As others have stated the low water crossing bridge is blocked with gravel and debris. Good luck!

I fished the steps from 5:45 to 9:30 Sunday morning. Ended up with 3 whites and 3 crappie on my flyrod. There were others fishing with flyrods, but none were catching whites at a phenominal rate. Several of the whites caught were good-sized, females, which concerns me a bit because I have yet to see or hear of males being caught in large numbers.

Hey Dubbya, would you be willing to pass along where you found the crappie while out at Tejas? I've been wanting to get my son out of the house and crappie fishing sounds like just the ticket.

I can't get out there soon enough, if you know what I mean. The spring fishing bug has got a hold of me something fierce, and I'm stuck here at work. However, I live outside of Leander, so an after work opportunity might present itself mid-week.
