phx sadly a boat is out of the question for me with my budget at this time...needing one and having money for one are two different issues...:-( I am raising two teens on a limited budget. But I sure need to keep that in mind for the future though.

MrBaSS....why is he not patient enough for bass fishing? That is fun to me. My son and I do a lot of fishing when the weather is right. My daughter used to like to fish. But now she is older she has more "important things" to do.

Gators dont bother you. Just stay away from them. I used to swim in the St Johns River in Florida all the time and its loaded with gators. They usually stay away from people and have a natural fear of them. As long as you don't run into a 10-12 footer you will be fine.

West end! My uncle used to have a lot there 7 years ago and they could be seen laying on the bank on occasion.

I have 3 in my freezer now, we let the rest go. I plan to fry them up before long. (I heard small pieces because of the bones)

Scale the pickeral. Leave the skin on and filet. Turn skind side down and score the meat cuting through the bones but not the skin.Salt and pepper to taste. Roll the filet up and secure with toth pick. Deap fry in hot oil. The fryin will make the bones edible. You won't even know they are there.

the only time your really have to be wary of gators is gigging frogs at night. That real big one with the extra wide set eyes may not be a frog and might just get a bit fiesty with a frog gig in its nose.

Thanks for the hints Grandpa. I don't go frog gigging. I will keep in mind about what you said about cooking the chain pickerel up though. Sounds good to me.

Well I heard west end too. But I looked at Google Earth...there is a huge amount of west end. Is it mid west, upper west, lower west...or what?

Palestine has them too? I didn't know that. My kids have been tubing in that water. I was just riding in the boat. Oh my.
