DK's quality control is poor, but it still catches fish. Yesterday we caught a nice channel off our dock with dk's that had been on a hook sitting on the dock for a couple of weeks.

Good stuff, but they should try to make it more consistant.

They are a good vendor and I hope that if there are problems with the bait, they will let us know.

In the meantime...I soak the DK blood bait with chicken liver blood every time I open up the gallon, fish a while with it, reseal it, and use it on about about 1/3rd of the lines I have out. It does about as well as the shrimp which I love....

Since I have so much of it, I am still using batches from years ago. I also highly recommend Sure Shot. Benny makes a great punch bait.

The problem with most, not all, of the reports on baits like this is they are purely anecdotal, meaning they are a hit or miss report. Hit or miss happens with all baits. For example, I may take Sure Shot out and not get a bite today, and might catch a few on a different bait. Tomorrow I might catch fish on Sure Shot and nothing on what was working yesterday. Then again, I might not catch anything on either bait and conclude they are both bad. Granted, many people who post here frequently know enough about DK's bait to know when it's not right, and their one or two example report is enough to illustrate it. However, just because you didn't catch anything with it doesn't mean it's of a poor quality. I am not saying this bait hasn't changed, I have no idea, I am just saying that I see a lot of reports on this or that prepared bait that's based on a very limited sample size. Based on limited sample sizes, we could conclude that shad doesn't work, but then we would be laughed off the forum.

It's a shame that the bait has changed though, but that's about how everything seems to work these days when money, not fishermen, takes control of production. If Danny's method wasn't profitable, no one would have bought the company and Danny wouldn't have continued to make it.

When you find a good batch, buy a 5 gallon bucket of it. It don't go bad.

eddie978n you are correct back then they use to put shad or minnows in it. Mostly minnows but they only did that for about 3 years.

The Texas Alien www.midwaylanding.com is me thats why I told stikshooter to call 1-877-219-2248 they don't seem to listen to their distrubitors. The problem has been spoty for the last 3 years but it needs to be fixed.
Maybe if they had enough complaints from the users they would listen.

Kat,I never have a problem catching fish on DK,I catch fish on it when they will not touch anything else,I have never been skunked with DK.My problem was it would not stay on the hook.I was still catching fish,but had to rebait after ever hit,or cast.I had never had DK that bad before.
Becky with DK stated yesterday that they no longer use cattail,they were having problems finding enough.I can understand why.

You are correct sir! The catching fish ability of DK's has never been in question. We tried other baits online and in our store but once they use Dk's they won't buy anything else. The only ones that requested diffrent baits had never tried it or were sponsered by them(ie. Big Larry). No one has returned their bait to us because the only problems have been too thick (add cooking oil) or too thin (add cattails). I just wish Richard would return my call.

To clarify what I was saying, the batch I was fishing with wouldnt catch fish! But I was fishing with a friend who was also using DK, his batch was catching fine, so I started using his , then I was catching fish. So I tossed the batch I was using. Proof is in the pudding as they say. It was definatly a bad batch.

I still find DK to be the best prepared bait that I can get. Like someone said, I thicken with cattails when needed and will thin with anything mushy ie liver, mussels etc but then I am not tourney fishing and tinker with it how I will. I use the gallon buckets and find the quality control to be fine. A pint of the stuff will only serve to """"s you off when the fish are biting good and plus it is easier to load the hook with the depth of a gallon sized container.

Send em a teaspoon sample back in an envelope.

That'll get their attention.

Ive used nothing but for last two years and am awaiting my order of 4 gallon buckets of the Blood Formula any day now!
The only Thing I did good with was the Premo Super Sticky Blood and that was on limited occasions when the localbait house was out of DKs.
But this lot should last me the spring throguh mid Summer. If not Ill have been burned out with all the cats Ive cleaned and ate becuase of it!!!
