When a pro is giving a seminar or is on TV, I really don't give a hoot about what he says about his equipment---I know he's getting paid to say so. BUT. when I'm on a guide trip and I see what the guide is using, maybe he gives me a chance to try it, etc., I really pay attention and am likely to consider buying it.
IMO, tackle companies would do a lot better by giving the guides a better sponsorship deal than spending their money on "big names".

Never bought tackle because of a pro. I buy tackle that fits in my hands, feels right, and fits the budget.
Just how many cuts have they been making over the past 5 years?
Its not what we did for you! Its what have you done for us lately?
I mean Jay and George cut and run to FLW, and what exposure does the FLW get on TV? I don't get FSN.
The only one i have seen on TV is Denny and the Elites.
Who gets more exposure? Denny, Jay , or George. By the way, Jay moved to Oregon, bass capital of ?????????
They have done well for the sport, but theres more colorful advertising out there. The young guns of BASS get seen more than those 3, Denny is the Icon of the 3.
There is nothing classless about this. They got paid for a long time, Eventually, its time to change marketing faces and statedgy.

It's the "What have you done for me lately" syndrome. They are looking for new blood...

I agree with you to a point, but what how will Mike Folkstead, Ish and Dustin bring exposure wise better than these three? I know you think Jay should hang for Treason or whatever, but he just won the FLW AOY for pete's sake. I know FLW doesn't create the exposure, but at least it's a Title he can put with his name that has credibility. I do agree though, it's a business decision and there was nothing classless necessarily about it. I do say though, Daiwa is poor at marketing and listening to people so if they nose dive, they deserve it. And as far as knocking George, it's as much about business for his as the other side. They paid him and he gave them exposure. Sounds pretty equal to me. Why would he care beyond that?

I'm just some little nobody company as the owner of SpitFire Jigs, but I'll tell you one things for sure. I won't sponsor anyone that I don't think is a standup honest and reputable person. Making comments like the one he made in that article will turn alot of sponsors off.

I would think someone with a product would act like a moderator, not trying to piss in anyones wheaties, always being neutral. Yet, you are very opininated on an open forum that caters to fishermen, which is your business. That comment that said you want do business with someone you don't think is stand up guy. Sorry, when you disagree with someone here, like your opinion of gentlemen George, you don't use the best choice of words sometimes. Even if its true!! Didn't know you were business man, nor would I do business with you even if your product was good. You rub people wrong. Maybe thats why your small. Take an example like North Texas Fiberglass, I have yet to see one of his posts rub someone wrong. He has away of being neutral on his posts. Why piss off possible customers? Just my opinion of a business owner who needs fishermen. Just some advice to wit, you want use!!!

LOL, Matt, the only person I seem to piss off is you, because I don't agree with your ESPN talking head commentary version of Cowboys football. LOL, seriously Those who know me and do business with me, will attest to my honesty and integrity. The reason you don't hear about me and I'm small is I'm not on here day in and out beating everyone over the head with my products. BTW, pretty tacky to attack me like that man. I'm opinionated, so what? I'll be honest and tell you what I think. I have a small business, because I have a day job that pays well. My small jig business can't and won't pay enough, It's a fun hobby for me. But thanks for the interest......

Thanks David, I won't comment further in this thread.
My apologies to TCB for the semi-hijack.

I don't understand why people are saying they don't buy because of what a pro said. you might not buy on that for the sole purpose, but IMO, they help persuade you to buy a product. I know Jay gave me a Daiwa, and with him being with daiwa, i started solely using them. But now that they kicked someone like him off the prostaff, I'm going to have to look more into their company before i get anything else from them, because i personally know Jay and think he provided them with major business. Why kick off tried and true, because these new and improved pros might end up hurting the business. IDK all about this, but this is the way i see it, so this is my opinion.

I've met George Cochran, he's a giant D-bagno loss there. Brauernot too personable either. Yelaswell, hes neither here nor there. All in all it was a good move. Maybe now their product can speak for itself.

Not defending him or attacking you, but everyone seems to think it's his fault. All I'm saying is, knowing Daiwa, it's not the anglers.

I also don't know what having an opinion has to do with having a company. Opening a business doesn't change someone from who they are. You wouldn't do business with me either but that's your opinion.

Good Business???
Here's what I've seen the past several years. Diawa and Shimano have PRICED themselves out of the everyday market. How many of you can afford a $200 to $300 reel or a $200 rod? And then how many of those are you think they're going to sell? P--- me off with a product and I won't buy anything related to that company.
Shimano took the BEST selling reel on the market and discontinued it. Ever seen Shimano on sale? They are now. They lost so much of the market its not funny. The reason, because they hired some one with no commonsense. The reason for changing was because their tooling was wore out--wha-a-a-T? Wore out??Make some new--don't come out with something nobody wants.
If you can't sell your product you have to cut something and that should be the IDIOT that decided to make that change not the everyday people that sell the product for you.
Got an idea that Shimano will come back out with the GREEN machine after they loose enough market share and call it the--- CURADO CLASSIC.
