Anybody know if the water level is high enough to canoe or kayak from I35w all the way to Hwy 377?

I have caught them all the way to 35, but that was years ago when we had a relly nice flow. I doubt they are there yet, but it would be nice to do some recon at the least.

Kayak Guy, maybe you will walk a few spots, but I think otherwise should be fine. There are not that many deep pools though, at least not when I last floated it.

Thanks Tony. I guess I'll go make a run this weekend and report back. Hopefully it'll warm back up and the fish will be running.

They have not reached as high as I35 yet, Water is low at I35 and still a fairly good paddle to the fish from there. Many hop outs from the I35 bridge to where the fish are. Can be done but you might be alot better off Putting in at the 114 bridge is only maybe 25 min paddle to the fish.
(done both trips many times) And walked the I35 banks last week
Good luck and report back. Lip Out

I was there on Monday. Water temp is 56 degrees. Brought home 10 large sandies and only two were males. They were in deeper holes of water about six feet down. We had to retreive our roadrunners slow to get them to hit. Two guys were on the bank, probably walked in from 377 on the south side. They had two stringers full of fish. Both using a jig of somesort. one guy was dragging it slow across the bottom. Marshal Creek opened the first of this month. Boat ramp is unusable. The gate keeper said that they should clean it soon.

Thanks for the info guys.
Liprippin,
When you say 25 minutes to a fishing spot, do you mean where the two creeks converge with Denton Creek and make a large pool? You can see this spot pretty well on Google Earth.

Google earth: It you are heading north on 377. the first bridge before denton creek. This creek looks dry but does meet up to denton on the east side of 377. That's the spot.

Kayak Guy, Yes its about 20-25 min in a canoe to that pool where the 2 creeks meet. everthing beyond that pool downstream has always been good fishing. It just much easier to access that area by canoe or kayak.
Have you been out there fishing last week I heard there was some guys in Kayaks with a bunch of fish in tow.?
Went today and caught some fish but nothing worth talking about. Worst day I have had out there in the past 3 weeks has been fair. today was slooooow. I would wait until we get some rain to make Canoe trip some parts are very shallow.

Okay/ Not the happiest person in the world right now. Went out fishing this evening, got there at about 4 and fished to the west of 377. It was slow, I caught 2 largemouth less than 10 inches and 2 sandies(one was a good size and one was tiny). I caught the 2 bass on a yellow road runner with a red head. I caught the sandies on a yellow road runner with a yellow head. I tried a Little George, 'lil minnow', and a few other panfish lures. I can be happy with the slow fishing. What ticked me off is that at about 6 some idiots were down there shooting in every which direction. I knew they were close and I could here bb's hitting the creek on the opposite side of where i was. There were probably 4 other people there besides me. Some people are just idiots. I left after this.
Does anyone know what the laws are about shooting there?

There were a ton of ducks out there, probably what it was they were shooting at. I found a fresh 12 gauge shell as well on my way back from the east side.
Could be otherwise, but I imagine its not legal. I might wear blaze next time I go.

yeah i thought the same. I always see shells but have never been there when someone has been shooting. And really i dont have a huge problem with it, but they were not careful AT ALL and were way to close for comfort. How did you do?

Liprippin,
I did make it out there today, midday. It was not a serious trip though. I took my 4 year old son on my yak with me and it was his first time. No sandies, but we did manage 4 small largemeouths. I posted some pics in the Whites/Hybrid/stripers forum under the topic "1st Fish".
I'm headed to Hickory creek on LL tomorrow with a buddy...hopefully the luck will improve.

I didn't get much time fishin' fishinforever. I got a couple bites but right as I was getting into them, my little brother accidently sliced his finger open at the parking lot so I had to sprint back right as they started to bite.
Guy next to me caught a throwback bass and sandy, an 11" crappie, and a 16" sandy on a chartreuse roadrunner. Saw a guy catch a tiny catfish while there as well.
