Gator 1: I was hatched out 8 years ago and trapped by the TP&W this spring. Thirteen feet and a half and 750 lbs. is what they came up with.
Gator 2: Whaaaa???? I was hatched 8 years ago, too. How'd you get twice as big as me? You eating something different?
Gator 1: Well, I particularly like tube fishermen and there's a lot of them out here ya know.
Gator 2: Hey, I eat tube fishermen, too. I should be as big as you!
Gator 1: Well, it may be your stalk that's the problem. See, I get one located then I pull me up some lily pads and swim under the water, then I raise up reaaaalllll slow like under the lily pads and repeat it until I get real close behind him, then I dive under and come up and grab him.
Gator 2: Hey, I do exactly the same thing with the lily pads and all. Why ain't I as big as you?
Gator 1: You keep your eyes open when you grab him?
Gator 2: No. I close them so he can't gouge my eyes.
Gator 1: Well, right there's your problem. You ain't gettin' nuttin' but poop. Now that was funny no matter who you are!!!

I agree w/ the manipulation theory. First, look at the underneath of the boom, the sun is right on it, but the shadow of the office is opposite what it should be (could be the camera flash). Second, who's holding the tail? Third how the heck is that rope being suspended between the teeth of that bucket? Lastly doesn't the rope around his jaws look to be hanging at an angle. I believe there's 13 alligators down there, I used to live there, but the photo looks rigged. Oh, BTW Manor Lake is in Brazoria County around West columbia (real close to the Bar X Ranch) but Eagle lake is north west of there (around Eagle Lake, the city)

I don't care if that photo is fake/rigged/photochopped or whatever, you still wouldn't find me walking that close to the gator; Dead or alive.

I'm with Bass Art. I grew up in the same area and don't know what the big deal is about gators. I've been seeing 12 foot+ gators on T Bend since the early 80's. I now live 50 miles north of Beaumont and don't think anything of seeing gators anymore. I treat 'em like a snake......with respect.
Best medicine for gators is 12ga. with slugs but I've never seen a really aggressive one. I've been wade fishing within 50' of a 10 footer for over an hour (and I was tearing the bass up).

We were on Big Cypress out of Karnack today fishin' a creek channel and saw a 5 footer come up about 20' in front of the boat. This one did not slowly swim away but stood it's place. Partner was up front running trolling motor (and I was safeley tucked in about 18' in the back seat. Normally they will swim off or submerge. Of course I was giving partner a hard time being in back and told him to hit TM speed on high and the gator will move. He/She did... a little. We think it's mating season for them or it had a nest near by.

Man, you guys wouldn't be wading out here in Florida with Gators. They kill people out here. We had 3 deaths or so recently from Gators. Here is the article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12798267/ Never swim near alligators. It only takes one time folks.

Now, that being said, I wouldn't wade fish now like that.........that was 25 years ago,no stories or history of gator attacks anywhere, it was March (water temp in the low 60's) and the bass were piled up in one area in the marsh. One of the best fishing days of my life.....rates up there with early Guerrero and smallmouth fishing in undisturbed Maine for me. Bob
