I would be more worried about the local Guides than some Pro that Skeeter flew in from Japan. As long as they are Skeetere owners hey what the heck that is just a fun Tourn its one of those dals like Mcdonalds you either get that big bite and wrestle that bad boy in the boat or you dont.

Most of my dealing with Texas game wardens have been professional and courteous. If you are prepared and abiding by the law you have no trouble with them. Everyone should follow the rules and that includes the boat companies and the pro's. They should know what the law is. Ignorance of the law is not a free pass to break it. Everyone should be held to the same standard.

I have been approached dozens of times by the Texas Game Wardens, and have yet to EVER have anything but a pleasant encounter and chat with them. They are some of the nicest officials anywhere. If you are prepared to be stopped when you get on the water, then they know it immediately, and will usually thank you.
As for the tournament, what we have is a conundrum. What seems a win/win for both business owners, fishermen, Skeeter, and the State of Texas is a special use permit for the tournament. That way everybody gets something. Skeeter(or any boat manufacturer) would simply pay a fee for each boat, give the reg# of each boat they bring, and everybody is happy.

I glad to see TP&W doing their jobs. Of all the game wardens I have dealt with over the years I can honestly say that none of them have been rude. But then of course I am respectful of them doing their job and don't cop an attitude with them Now if we can just get a law passed to control the ski boats and jet skis.

I will agree with the majority of the people. Every warden I have ever met was very polite and easy to work with. As long as you don't give an attitude, you will not get one in return. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

All you have to do is tell them your test driving it and fishing out of it to see if you like it. I believe its a sales tax issue.

catchin202, there were plenty of guides at the tournaments. I guide on Sam Rayburn and I can promise you, I am no bigger of a threat than anyone else on the lake. Just look at the McDonalds held here. An 11 year old kid won it.

I imagine it has to do with the fact that you are responsible for your wake. The numbers are the only way to id identical boats. Texas game wardens are numerous, very courteous & professional. In Louisiana they have one every other month for half the state and then they rotate!! The game wardens are one reason why Texas has more game and quality freshwater fish here than La.

The reg number is for tracking and tax purposes. How many people can ID a boat by number when it blows by you at 50mph or better, enough to cause damage by the wake it left? Not me, that's for sure. Like an auto, the license plate is proof you paid taxes that year to drive that vehicle on public roads. The ID is the VIN. Same with boats, they have VINs as well (many do). This is why your registration is done at the Tax collector's office, not the DMV. With boats, it's done at the TPW office.
Also, I see no reason to bypass laws so a group of individuals can profit. Going down that road is a bad idea. Where do we draw the line? What if I want to have a get together and it's sponsored by Chevy, so Chevy sends 10 trucks without license plates and we go driving around town? Should that be legal as well since some of us may profit from it?
