I guess I did come across wrong--a little to harsh--it just seems like more of a challenge to use lures to me than to sit on a point drop a shad and wait. Not saying that I am that good I just fish with guys that are and I try to learn from them--but we always seem to catch out there and dont resort to using bait. Oh and Bob we won you tournament too....using lures. smile and I'm not saying I would want to see all of them changed to artificials only, it would be cool if just a couple of them were artificials only--could be more challenging for some, too challenging for others.

That is funny--catching bait isn't that tough and dropping a shad surely isn't.

As for trying to police the rules--I would police them the same way every rule on the TSA is policed..mostly through trust as I feel it should be. How are we sure that a team isn't using more than one boat to catch the fish? We dont, we just trust them. All the guys I have met at the tournament have been good guys so I dont think policing them would be an issue...and ONCE AGAIN just my 2 cents

I too was a lure only fisherman until I joined the TSA. It was then that I learned that there is a season for each type of fishing and to win consistently it takes a well rounded fisherman to utilize the right techniques in the right season.

Teams Stripaholic and Blue Safari are outstanding competitors and they have demonstrated the ability to master both artificial and bait fishing to win consistently. CONGRATULATIONS to both teams -- and I want to thank the TSA for what I have learned about tournamant fishing for BIG stripers.

THANKS also to my good friends John Farrell and Joe Coleman for their work in the TSA. I did not get to fish one TSA tourney for a variety of reasons - but that does not decrease my appreciation for Danny and Randy taking the leadership roles and pressing ahead with the TSA = THANKS men!!!

I would like to encourage those who only fish lures or can only fish bait to step up to the challenge of the TSA tourney trail - I guarentee it will make you better overall fishermen.

Jason, you obviously have little experience in catching bait and all thats involved or the many techniques of live and cut bait.crazy

One of the great things about the TSA is most are more than willing to share there knowledge to those that are inexperienced or that want to learn. BB and Fuzzy makes good points.

Yeah catching bait is pretty tought--find bait, throw net, catch bait...man that's tough! The whole thing of putting a shad on a hook---man no way I could figure that out either. I've caught plenty of bait to use out at Benbrook when it gets tough out there or I just want to relax and catch. I just dont see why you are so defensive about not having a artificial only tournament--it was just a suggestion.

Maybe its because you act like such a know it all "hero" all the time. Fishing is fishing no matter how you do it. Are you afraid to have to compete against a biat fisherman ? oh wait ,your not afraid cause your just too good right ? It's because of people like you that I have hesitated to join the TSA over the years

I've noticed a lot of your points over the past few months as well.

As far as bait goes in TSA tournaments...I think the whole idea is to catch the biggest fish possible. Sometimes the probability is higher with bait, sometimes artificials. Therefore, I can plainly see why bait is and should be allowed.

Now as far as catching bait...it is easy assuming you know how to throw a net. But finding them is a different subject. I'm glad you like to fish artificials because I sure wouldn't want you missing the captains meeting trying to find bait on an unfamiliar lake during the tough months.

You wont miss the captains meeting because you can catch the bait before the tournament and no I'm not afraid to compete against bait fishermen--we do it every tournament. It would just be cool too have a tournament with just lures....anyway I can see people are against it---even those not in the TSA---so I guess that is it. Funny though.

Jason, Randy already addressed that the first 2 could be artificial only.

The TSA rules are not changing as El Presedente Ragsdale has stated. Most folks don't have a clue how much goes in to running this small Assocition. It also takes money. Send you dues in today and help get things rolling for the TSA in 2008.

The TSA did at one time hold several artificial tournaments. They were on Whitney and worked out well. If you want artificial tournaments next year then by all means become envolved and lobby the existing officers.

See ya at Texoma and I will be fishing artificials in January. popcorn

I just printed out the Membership form and it says $35.00 per team... Is it still $30.00 per team/family before Jan 1st 2008?
