Go for it. I went back to school when I was 39. I had been associated with the Grocery industry for 15 years and finally decided I needed to change. I was tired of working on the weekends and not being around my family when they were off. I went back to school for computer programming. Best thing I could have done. During the school years it was tough on my family and me. Between working, school, and spending time on homework (lab time), there wasn't time for anything else. My wife and daughters were very supportive. The oldest was in middle school and the youngest in grade school.

I didn't get as far as I wanted - a master's degree, but I got far enough to get into the area that I wanted to be in. Now I have the time to do all those other things I missed out on. I only took up fishing 2 years ago, but being in a job that allows me to have weekends free was worth the hassle of going back to school.

You're definitly not too young. You can either be a daydreamer and wonder what if later on or you can pursue your dream and make it a reality. You'll never know if you can do it until you try.

Good luck.

Better get cracking on the application process. I am 30 as of a couple weeks ago, and I am changing from auto technician to electrical engineering. The auto repair industry is getting bad as far as the employees are concerned. THe dealers pay about 20% of what they charge. I figure it's time I have a job I like, and will allow me to buy that new Skeeter and try to get on the state team. I already have associates degree- but only 13 hours transferred- so I figure 3 hard years of schooling and back in the job place. It is never too late to further your education! GO FOR IT!

You can go for your "dream job" now or risk breaking your leg repeatedly trying to kick yourself in the butt for the rest of your life for not doing it !

Both very fun jobs But they just didnt pay the bills.

Back then I was in my first marriage and had to work 3 jobs just to make ends meet.

After 6 years I had enough and sent her packing.

Now im married to my best friend as some of you guys know that have met me and my wife

The question is Now that she might be in a position to support us I am thinking of possibly returning to school full time and follow my dream of becomeing a marine biologist.

I'm currently a super for a local home building company (pays the bills) and I enjoy it. But its not what I would say I love to do.

I'm 33 and not getting any younger is it to late to go back and start over ??

I'm asking you folks because I value the advice you may have.

There are a lot of other factors etc... and my wife supports me but im just not sure about starting over.

I went back and got my B.S. @ 42 and worked the graveyard shift. It was very much worth it.

Also, take a careful look into the school grants and loans that are available. Could help ease the burden. Best of luck to you.

My situation was almost identical to Scott01. At 32, I had been layed-off and had a wife and 3 children. I enrolled in college at night and 6 years later I earned a batchelor's degree in Accounting and 5 years after that, I earned a master's degree. All of that schooling was at night while I worked a day job. I'm retired now, after a career as an auditor with the U.S. Government, and I spend a great deal of time hunting and fishing. Just remember, you're 33 now and in 5 or 6 years you're going to be 38 or 39 whether you go to college or not. It would be better if you could say, "well, I'm 39 now and I have a batchelor's degree. At least I didn't waste those last 6 years."

I say go for it, but with the understanding that finding a job in the career feild you have chosen might require relocation, and at that point you and your wife might be at a crossroads again where one of you has to make a compromise.

Life is too short to spend it unhappily. Do what makes the 2 of you happy.

Congratulations on finding you best friend. That in it self is what makes me happy. I found my other half 4 years ago and have been happy ever since. Ever since we met I feel I can do anything, and she whole heartedly supports me. I get the feeling that your situation is the same way. Do what makes you happy. If your happy she will be happy.
