Just returned from a visit to Lake Conroe today and the wind was blowing around 20knots out of the northwest. I spoke with one bass fisherman and he said the fishing was good when you can get out. I was unable to speak with anyone that is fishing for other species, but I would assume the same holds true.

I was up there Saturday and caught one small one on a crankbait, talked to another guy who caught small ones on a worm. Water temp was around mid to upper 70's. I put in at April Plaza off of 105. May go back this weekend to see what effect this front has on them. You would think they are close to being there!

I was up there Tuesday morning and caught some fish around the grass on a spinnerbait, frog, and the dreaded rattletrap(chrome/blue back). The fish I found were still out on the flats (5-9). Go off about noon due to the gale. I put in at Anchorage.

I was there on Saturday, went out of April Plaza, caught 15 total all on chrome/blue back crankbait. I fished until around 1:30-2:00 due to some family commitments. They would not hit a worm, rattletrap, or anything else. They were in a cut around 8' deep with flats of 5-6'. I had a school of shad come up right by the boat. Only two were big enough to keep on Conroe, they were set free!

I was there on Friday out of Inland Marina. Hooked 6 landed 4 one keeper. Late start from 11:00am to 4:00. Threw a ratl trap at a shad school with no takers. Two did take a wild eyed swim shad and the others liked senkos in cover by the shore. Tried fishing some hydrilla in Atkins Creek with no bites. All fish released.

I was out there today, and from everything I saw, it's still a few weeks away from fall patterns. There were a few small fish in the creeks but not much to speak of. We were looking for 71-72 degrees.

I was a Lake Conroe on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Although I did not fish, I had several conversations with people that fish almost daily. All told me that fishing was very slow although the weather was beautiful will little or no wind. Those that bass fish said the fish were small and required skill to catch. I was told that a couple of large catfish were caught over the past weekend but those fishing with rod and reel over their "honey holes" were catching few for their efforts. High pressure has been over the area for the past week but a change in the pressure will result in the next few days with the arrival of a new cool front.

We fished Saturday (11/03/07) from daylight till about 2 pm. It sucked. Weather was great, but I'll be darn if I can figure Conroe out. We caught 6, but the entire bunch probably didn't weigh 5 lbs. All in grass, shallow. We started on the dam and I thought sure we would get a daylight topwater bite, but no such luck. We worked our way up the lake, past the bridge, working points and grassbeds, but there just was not much of a bite. Hopefully the next cold front will bring them up shallow. We also did not see a lot of shad....I'm stumped.

Son and I fished Conroe Sunday (11/04/07) from 8:30 till 2:30pm and we (my son) caught 8 to 10 bass (I caught zip), largest was 4# on firetiger crank baits ripped thru shallow grass near bulkheads. We had to cover alot of water to catch these few fish. Best spot was second cove south of Walden

I fished it Sunday also 11/4. We pounded the waters to pick up the fish we did catch and most were shorts. We fished all North. Did hit one or two bulkheads docks right on the left after 1097 bridge but other than that all was North.... Fished with mostly crank. None were legal.
