i know that this was an issue for a while, but if you do what i did, and get a 20 dollar cooler, then get a 20 dollar pump from walmart, you could construct one for under 50 and it will keep the fish alive all day. i know because that is what mine is. i have modified my jon boat with decking, foot trolling motor, livewell two storage compartments, dual batteries switch box and driver an passenger seats, and 2 fishing seats. so if you have any questions, or need any pictures let me know. chad semd me some pics of your boat im thinking of doing that to mine if it dont sell would love to see how you did yours

I would do a search on here for Texas small waters tournament trail. They kinda have the same concept that your talking about. I havent read their rules in a while but I think they can use everything from float tubes to jon boats. If I remember correctly the rules say you can use an outboard but not above idle speed. If I had more time I would be in on it. Good luck.

i also really just want it to be those guys that fish for fun the way there daddies did so we can pass that on to our sons and daughters and show there is more to it than fast boats and high dollar gear. i would like to keep it original. the basics, and let it be fun and not a task you have to do but want to do. or maybe i am just a redneck and need more redneck friends! chad

Just come on up to Waco and we will redneck it together. I have a 14 ft jonboat with a 1965 18 horse johnson. trolling motor in the front, 2 depth finders, lighted livewell, fully decked and carpeted, night time running lights as well. I would like to say I put this boat together on my own but I bought it off this forum like that.

ok let me give props to the guy who accually built this thing, and i was not trying to take credit for it...i should hav eclarified. retiredredleg is the one who i bought my boat from. and this livewell had already been built by him. So give credit where credit is do. "now that this was an issue for a while, but if you do what i did, and get a 20 dollar cooler, then get a 20 dollar pump from walmart, you could construct one for under 50 and it will keep the fish alive all day. i know because that is what mine is" this was my tread, i did go back and i guess when you get something, you kinda take it as being all yours, but if you really wawnt to find out how he did it, he is the man. darryl again i apologize for this one, i think you know me well enough to know this was a mistake and i was not really thinkin about it when i wrote it. anyways, your idea was a great one, and thanks for keepin me in check. chad

I have a timer on mine and the over flow is into the bottome of the boat. The timer is also hooked to my bilge pump so it pumps it out as well as in.
