I can't even begin to tell you how much I like the Fall of the year for crappie fishing. It's 'the' time to catch a bunch of big fish...and that's what happened this weekend at Cedar Creek. I had put my new Lund in the shop last week at Advantage Marine for it's 20 hr check, and wanted to go fishing this weekend, so Ernest and Sheldon took pity on me. I fished Saturday with Ernest and it was the single best day I've had this year for big fish. We caught over 100 fish and kept 50 which weighed over 70#. Then Sunday I fished with Sheldon and we caught over 70 fish, keeping 40 that weighed almost 55#. All fish were caught on bridges, docks and brushpiles and most were caught on Jigum Jigs in 1/16 and 1/8 oz. White or chartreuse seem to be the perferred colors and everything (but the docks) was fished dead slow. We really didn't see too many people out that looked like they were crappie fishing, and if you were one of those that weren't out, about all I can say is "I'm sorry".

Lord, when I die, put me in the Fall of the year and leave me there, with a crappie pole in my hand thumb

Me and Ernest with a pretty good mess of crappie

The ole man with four 'purdy gooduns'

And yeah, those fish were heavy

And while we didn't get any pics of the entire catch, here's Sheldon with a couple of Sunday's best

Nice catch,Guy, Ernest, Sheldon.....
Looks as though Ernest needs to hold the stringer so he won't blow away, (He's lost some weight)....
Sure wish I was available next weekend...

OK guys, Tracy is one of my customers from earlier this month and he'd like to split a full day on CC this coming Saturday. If you're interested, contact me and I'll set it up with both of you.

very nice catch

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

This was by far the largest average catch I've cleaned in the last two years of crappie fishing. Had one 11 incher that was kept because of damage and it looked so small compared to others. Never even pulled out the ruler today....just threw it back unless it was a substantial fish. Amazing day!

We saw several boats fishing minnows and we were doing much better than they were. just put the jigs down about 10' and hold them still. The ends of all the bridges were producing well. Just be sure to get under the bridge and fish the darkest shade.

i saw several boats todat sitting out in the sun (it was cold)fishing and doubt that any of them caught anything.

It is better this fall than last fall?
Hmm....if it is as good as last fall, I would be completely happy w/ CC.
I was going to go to CC today, but had to take care of some family business. Wish I was there though.

Congrat Ernest, Guy, & Sheldon on a great weekend.

I wish Ernest would take pity on me sometime smile
