In my opinion don't be to quick to buy.. rent a couple and learn to paddle first. When I was looking I thought that stability was all important. Now that I have used my 12.5 foot perception heavily, I wish I had gotten longer and narrower (my next purchase will be a Phoenix 140 or 160) but the Ocean Kayak Triton looks interesting too!
The main thing is to get home and get fishing

You need to check out KASA(Kayak Anglers Society of America). They do alot with soldiers. They also sell some great fishing kayak's with many special fishing features. Go to their website and send Brad a message and tell him I sent you. We just fished a tourney where they had a Wounded Warrior fish out of one with them. They are a great group of guys. They are also starting a Armed Forces Kayak Fishing Series(AFKFS). Seriously check them out. www.kayakanglerssa.comIf you can't get in contact with them send me a message and I will talk to them for you

If you find yourself in the Fort Hood area when you get back, stop in and say hi and we'll see what we can do for you. We're located in Belton. Michael, I checked out the website for the KASA. Looks pretty interesting! I guess this is why Brad was asking for kayak fishing pictures a little while ago.

FishorDie, Just my opinion, but I have a tarpon 120 and it is the best kayak I have owned. Plenty of room for storage and is very stable. But if you are going to use it only in the bays maybe you should look at the tarpon 140. I went on a guided fishing trip a couple of weeks ago in Aransas Pass and that was what the guide had us use. The wind was blowing pretty good when we were there and the 140 handled beautifully. Good luck and come home safe. Rick

Well I need an all around Kayak I will be using it for BTB and bay fishing. I really like the look of the X-factor. I want to paddle it and see how it handles the breakers and rougher water, and how well it tracks in the bay. Also looking to make sure its not too slow, for runs ot the short rigs.

Mike I looked into that site and was not able to get a hold of Brad. Would love to get in touch with him. He is doing great things for our military.
