Anyone head out there today? If so, how did you do? My buddy and I got there right at 7am and fished til 11am. The water was really low. Not much luck on the north end. We moved down quite a ways and found a pretty good spot. Lost count of how many sandies we pulled out. Some keepers but most were betweed 7-10in. Also pulled out a medium blue cat, carp and a hand full of perch. I was happy to hear that the game warden was out there yesterday checking people on the way out.

Anybody hit this place over the past 2 weekends? How was it? I was out on the 20th and the water was low and the action a little slow at first. Still had some fun and hope to get out there this weekend.

Little hint, y'all... All that flooded brush I was wading in around that bend? it's ALL Poison oak! don't ask me how I know. I would also HIGHLY reccomend not wearing shorts while trudging through it! aaaarrrrgggghhhh! -Brian Oh man! Sorry to hear that. I used to get poison really bad all summer when I lived in PA, but since moving to Texas I've only managed to get into it twice. What part of PA did you live? I'm from Pittsburgh

I was out there this afternoon looking for hybrids and had no luck. I was fishing Roostertails, Roadrunners, castmasters and TNT limit glitters. I saw a bunch of guys on the rocks on the opposite side of the parking lot catching some small blues in the spillway entrance and one guy hooked a pretty nice Buffalo on shad!
My question is, when the water is low like it was today does it get a little deeper down stream in any pockets? I walked downstream past the bend and still didn't see anything. On the walk back to the spillway I saw two guys with a stringer of HUGE Slabs and a couple Sandies...very nice! If this was you where were you fishing?
Any tips on the LLELA besides fishing the rocks please let me know..

I was there last week and saw a guy on the other side of the river from me catch 3 2lb. crappie in about 15 minutes using yellow roadrunners. He was on the parking lot side, walk past the bend and keep going and there will be a cove where the water is relatively calm. It is a pretty far walk, the first bend in the river is only about 1/3 or 1/2 of the way and there are times when you have to walk through some pretty thick stuff. There was a lot of surface action, but I could never really get into them; ended up catching a few undersized hybrids, 5 or so sandies, and way too many mini-largemouths (less than 8 inches). When I was there best bet looked like minnows; I threw everything I had, but was still getting out fished by the guys with the water bottle fishing reels using minnows about 3 to 1.

LOL! I am definitely going to bring some live bait with me next time. It's too frustrating getting hung up all the time with roostertails and roadrunners.

I would Starless but I am out of town this weekend. It's good you guys are doing this because there was a lot of trash around and it needs to be taken care of.

Yeah, Stucky, we think so too.
The spot used to be pristine! Sadly, as soon as they started letting out a lot of water, they started attracting a lot of people eager to fill their cooler, whether legally or not, and those same sort of people tend to leave their trash lying around.
I'm hoping that with the water back to normal, those folks will get lost, and leave the rest of the fish for those of us who only keep legal fish, or catch and release.

I was out there last weekend, 11/03 and could not believe the amount of trash left behind as we watched people leave. What is so difficult about taking your trash with you? Can't stand litter bugs!!

I will be there all day friday with a friend, maybe 2. We will definitely be cleaning up as we go. Last time we took out a garbage bag full from the parking area on the bank! Its sad. Saturday may be tough since I have family coming in overnight friday/early morning on saturday. If that changes I will defintely make it, otherwise I will continue my efforts every visit.
