Steve,

Congrats on the bullet purchase.....I bought one to toy with as well in my spare time. (17Vee) When I get back from out of the country and I am back to fork and I am going to see what props work best on her... 150 promax, currently have a 26 chopper and a 27 chopper. Guy I bought it from said it should run good with a 28 and a light load.

Thanks Jeff. Got back with it last night. That bridgeport is one bad motor. Man, it sounds cool.
It's at Sartin Marine getting some buffing done to it, and a few minor electrical problems fixed.
Hopefully we'll have it out on the lake this evening or tomorrow afternoon.
This one has gone 101mph before, but i do have some faster props for it..lol we'll see.

funny how this boat is so similar to the new ones. just a little different on the front deck.
this one is considered a comp hull. 995 pounds. she rides great too.

i still have alot of work to do to completely restore this boat, but when it's done, she's gonna look like new.

that bridgeport smokes alot, huh? LOL, atleast it's getting oil. brings back memories of the old days of those smokey coves before a blast off of a tournament.

i don't have much money either, that's why bought this boat. It didn't cost very much.

a bridgeport is mercurys drag racing engine. And their secret "HOT" engine.

i'm thinking bout trading this one for a 250XB or something similar.

There were many versions of the 2.4 Bridgeport motor. Nothing very secret about them.

Bridgeport is an oval exhaust port motor with bridge down the center of the port so the piston rings wouldn't get hung up. Hence the name Bridgeport.

Very common engines except for the Mod VP's and the Off Shore motors.

The 2.4's were notorious for not producing power at the bottom end, but they ran good on top end.

They were replaced by the 2.5L Mercury in the early 90's

You aint kiddin' about it "not" being strong on the bottom.. it's a bit slow. But, when that sucker get's going it's off to the races.

good info. about the bridgeport. thanks for that. This boat will be a fun play "toy".

I just heard from one of the previous owners. he said it used to turn a 29p Hoss hyperdrive at 8400 rpms. That's movin' !!

8400 is screamin'! That motor must be well built. That's easily over 100mph. Be careful!

I've got a 32 Hoss if you just need something to test Steve. I could turn it on my allison with the offshore pretty good.
