Proline, congrats on the hybrid! I've had that happen on my first cast too.
Llela is a great place, you never know what you will catch.
Sadly this time of year people swimming, TRYING to fish, and casting over others lines, and tangling everyone is pretty common...Just gotta put up with it lol.

Everywhere. I've fished just about every inch of available water there, and it all depends on the current level, and how much water they are releasing...and whether or not I'm catching at my current spot lol.
But I have fished that area successfully many times.

Did anyone go today? How'd you guys do? I'm probably going to be there in the morning Saturday or Sunday.
Hey Sonfish just google LLELA and you'll find their website where they give you directions. I haven't caught any big hybrids out there yet, but have seen people catching them. I've caught my limit of sandbass there at least a couple times and some barely illegal hybrids though; you have to explore a little to avoid the crowds, and the size seems better in the early morning. Bring roadrunners, rooster tails, and small rattletraps and you can't go wrong.

I just finished cleaning my catch from there. Did pretty good on catfish. kept 7. all 14-23in. Very nice. I caught quite a few cats on Danny Kings. Only 2 Sand Bass and 1 Hybrid. All 3 bass were less than 10in and were caught on rooster tails. This was my first time there. I'll definitely go again but next time much earlier in the day, i hear that the bass are more active in the AM.

When I was there this afternoon, the water was just flying out. The current was pretty strong. Is it a little calmer in the morning?

Time of day has nothing at all to do with water level.
That's entirely dictated by the Corps of Engineers.
Heck, up until all the flooding, there was NO water coming out, save the occassional electricity generation.
The place was empty...but now that they've been releasing for months, trying to lower Lewisville again...it's been packed lol.
The water level varies by the day.

The water level varies by the day. No water is ever released strictly for power generation from Lake Lewisville. There is only a small generator owned by the City of Denton. Water is only released for downstream water supply needs or for flood control.
