Don, Did you have to use your drift sock? I prefer to have a light breeze, but not a storm. There have been days when I've had to use two drift socks and the t/m and that didn't make it right. I'm looking at some of the drift management devices the other catfish guys make. I'll share the info with ya when I get it perfected. :Fish:

Fly;
On those really windy days where one drift sock isn't enough, try using an under weighted mushroom Anchor, or a 1 pound coffee can filled with cement. You still get a slight drift, but it will slow you way down over what the drift socks can do.
It's a trick I was shown a long time ago while while rivers back home. I keep a mushroom anchor on the boat most all the time just in case.

Michial, does the mushroom anchor/coffee can ever get snagged on a drift? or do you have tips on how to prevent that?
Sounds like a neat idea

Those of you talking about fight, pound for pound the reds will out fight the hybrids every time, but inch for inch try catching a 24" blacktip on 10-15 pound line. It'll make those hybrids feel like blue crabs....
This past 4th of July my son and I went to Port A and Galveston, and we probably caught 60 sharks from the piers over the course of the 10 days we were there. I have a new found respect for Sharks after that vacation.
As for fishing here I'd prefer my fishing to result in one keeper Hybrid a week, and maybe 20 or so good sized whites per trip. This mix would be nearly perfect for me.
The Whites are fun to catch, but not enough meat for me to waste my time on cleaning. 1 Hybrid per week is more than enough for me to have dinner a couple of times each week.
---
I fish to get away from life, to relax and let the mind not have to worry about what's going on around me. When I catch more than 15-20 fish I tend to find myself moving around too much, and it takes the relaxation away from the trip.
I love having those days where I catch 50 or 60 fish, they are great to brag about to my son, but honestly they aren't relaxing days for me. I'd probably leave the lake long before I caught 100 fish. I'll leave those days to the guys with the clickers that like to brag about th three digit number catches.
I suffer from severe Exercise induced asthma, and it really takes much to trigger an attack. One day I caught 3 hybrids in a 30 minute period, while being in heaven over the catch my lungs were in the other place. That particular day was 99 degrees out. As it cools down it's better, but it's still a problem.
I'm not sure if Fly noticed the day he and I went out fishing, but when we hooked the Hybrids that day I was starting to have a mild asthma attack.

I would not call it bragging ... more of a report which is part of what this forum is all about. Seems you still don't believe the big numbers. :whistle:

Loose, I hope yours is faster, I just got tired of throwing money and time at the Mercury. 93.6 on the gps was the top speed with the 225 Pro Max. Yours is a lot easier/ roomier to fish out of too. WHy would anyone want to go...better yet why would anyone think it was safe to go that fast in a bass boat?

Still not seeing where I say I don't believe... I'd say at best I am skeptical that it happens frequently, but that's still acknowledging that it happens. I'll continue to JOKE with people about exagerrating, but that's just JOKINGI'm almost wishing I never tried posting a JOKE it seems that too many people have no sens of humor!
