I like that explanation. I'd have to make some comparisons on other lake depths with striper.
When we had the TSA tourney, that was one reason some of the guides have given. Another was more catch than release.
It is legal to take anothers catch if he or she fills out the tranfer, whether hand written or from the TX Hunting and Fishing laws book, the back cover has the correct form to be used or copied.
Why did RC stock stripers at one time, but no longer do? I wonder when the last striper has been caught. Wouldn't you think that if they are there, they are huge.

In the next few weeks they will be loaded with them. I just look for birds and schoolers, idle in slow and go to the trolling motor long before you get to them, then throw Sassy shad at them. You can also fish a slab when they go down. Fish straight under the boat and bring a dozen with you, because you will hang up. You can replace the hook with a lighter wire hook also so they will bend out when hung.

"When the lake was low, I suspect "thermal squeeze" hit the stripers hard. This would just be a normal occurance under drought conditions. This is why hybrids were developed. A hybrid grows 2 lbs/year for the first 4 years. Hybrids/stripers don't reproduce and are restocked as needed. I see little rational to be concerned about their quantities because it's all controlled by the state. BTW, the largest hatchery of hybrids, believe it or not, is in the Mohavie Desert.

I agree. The take is limiting a lot os fish from getting huge but there was nice cohort that just dropped out in the fall 05/spring of '06. They sure didn't shrink!
