Be VERY careful It is illegal on some Federal and State, and Municipal lands to remove artifacts. Know personally of a couple of guys removeing such from a Federal park, the Feds watched for a while and then came in and confiscated, equipment, truck, and obtained a search warrent and had it served at their place of residence.... Be VERY aware of where your at and the local laws.

I wonder why they are being found at lakes that were impounded or created in the last 60 years?? The dirt is still older than 60 years, im sure the water just helps weed them out.

"Evidence of human occupation has been found in Pleistocene river terrace strata near Lewisville, Texas, over the past 7 years. Noteworthy finds include a Clovis projectile point in place in the site, an extensive faunal collection and charcoal which has produced 2 radiocarbon age determinatins in excess of 37,000 years B.P. ... In conjunction with the construction of Lewisville Dam for the Garza-Little Elm Reservoir, the U.S. Corps of Engineers excavated a gigantic borrow pit near the west anchor of the damsite in 1949-51. The borrow pit removed some 20 feet of earth . . ., which orginally stood 70 feet above present stream grade. The locality is in extreme southeast Denton Country, on the western side of the Elm Fork of Trinity River, just north of Lewisville ..." from "A Pleistocene Campsite Near Lewisville, Texas", Vol XXIII, No. 3 of "American Antiquity", January 1958. by Wilson W. Crook, Jr., and R.K. Harris. (R.K. Harris was president of the Dallas Archeological Society and lectured at SMU. He was a cousin of mine and took me on a few afternoon hunts.)
The site, of course has long since been inudated by Lake Lewisville.

I wonder why they are being found at lakes that were impounded or created in the last 60 years?? Cause there was water near, as in creeks or rivers. Can go without a lot of things but not water. Game is always found around water, food. Hunt with a crude bow and make it what you depend your survival on and I'll take being around water anytime.
