I think I probably would have given him a good ol-fashion arse whoopin with my heaviest action rod. The last thing I want is a snake in my boat!!! YIKES!

Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

To answer Pappy's question about what they do when they come on your boat.

A cottonmouth came onto my boat, opened the cooler, popped open a Bud Lite with his fangs, chugged the whole can, then took another one and slithered off my boat, right after crapping on the new carpet.

it is a bull snake, and the reason it went for your boat is because it was a large "landmark", bull snakes are not water snakes, and cannot stay in the water too long. if you let them in the boat, they will either sun for awhile, and then hide somewhere in the boat(like your console) or in most cases, they get scared as soon as they get on the boat and they hide. it is not a rare occurance. most of the time if they try once, they will be persistant, especially when they are land snakes. if they are water snakes, i dont tolerate because they are mean and bite alot. even though they look like they are "after you", they just want to be out of the water and dry, like they are supposed to be.

It is called a Texas Gray Rat Snake. They are what most people call a Bull Snake, Chicken Snake or Pine Snake. They can swim as you saw & are excellent climbers. Very beautiful snake to me!

That is a Texas Rat Snake (Elaphe obsoleta lindheimeri) for sure. They are one of the most common snakes encountered in Texas. They on nonvenomous and there is no need to cut them up or shoot them. They eat rats, birds, and such.
