Anybody know if there is one? What do you people know about this fishing on Lake Tahoe?

The Tahoe keys area has some large mouth and small mouth. They were put there by bucket biologists. A two pounder would be considered a lunker.

Lake trout and Lohantan cuts are the big deals but they are typically only caught by people who are very specialized in targeting them. Deep deep trolling with cannon balls or whatever they call them.

They also stock hatchery rainbows that you can catch from the bank near the stock sites.

It's not known as a really great fishery... But you can catch some fish there.

I have in-laws in Reno so we go up there on occasion, the water is so clear seeing the bottom at 50’ is normal,I didn’t notice many fishing boats on the lake, some people fishing from the docks and shore,I noticed a lot more anglers fly fishing the Truckee below the lake.

Stream fishing for trout might have better luck. I've caught stream trout up in them hills and we gutted, cleaned them and ate them that day food

HAHA! Awesome recall.

You gotta say a Hail Mary to catch the biggest ones.

We went out with a guy several years ago and trolled for Mackinaw....caught 3 or 4. Reels were loaded w/ weighted stainless steel wire line. We drug large minnows (sprayed down with WD-40) behind giant blade spinners anywhere from 200-220' deep. It was a great time and postcard views 360 degrees around the boat. Fair amount of Kokanee salmon as well, I believe?

Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading

You want to do this all by yourself….I’d get a light spinning set up and fish the Truckee River

You want a guide service….Id fish Donner Lake from a boat.

Many, many years ago my BIL (wife's side) got married there. His wife's family has a lakefront home there. A few days before the wedding I was giving my BIL greif for making me miss prime springtime bass fishing a couple of her brothers offered to take me trout fishing the next morning... I found out at 5a the next morning their idea of trout fishing was drowning corn... Only good thing was I was the only one to catch a trout and my new SIL's mom made us one heck of a breakfast when we finished... Dan

I’ve been there and the lake is definitely beautiful. As stated above, I only saw a few pleasure boats and none that appeared to be fishing. I also recall that I saw no fishing based businesses around the area I was in, unlike most lake or seaside towns. Dunno, just didn’t seem fishing oriented

I have a buddy that has a place on the lake .
He goes out in a Kayak and gets em , lake trout . Really deep ----like 100-150 deep in late fall . Most of the pics i've seen are 5-8 lbs .
The lake's smallmouth population is supposedly getting bigger . I heard that are going to consider them invasive and if you catch em ---gotta keep em and kill em asap .
