Doc - Gulp makes a maggot similar in size and darker in color. It also isn't juiced up like the other baits.
You can't beat the live bait option though.

Thanks PL ! It was great to get out on the water again after the long sabbatical I had. Fishing is a great blessing !

Hey Zane ! The Gulp Alive products produce bite rates similar to the live maggots, so there is really little, if any, advantage to them. But I like to feed my pets quality protein ! grin

An advantage to using the Gulp Alive minnow is the stray bonus bass you catch. I've never caught a bass on the maggots but I have caught a few catfish on them. And one carp about 10 pounds that I had to chase with the trolling motor. And I was with Vogey one day when he caught an 18 pound yellow cat on a Gulp Alive on 4 pound line. What a rodeo act that was ! lol

Thanks Yesenia...Really hoping you got some meaningful rain last week.

Worms/Maggots/Minnows/Jigs/Flies...each to his own preference...they all work good on our little friends !

I don't know exactly what kind of larvae these are but they have little legs and are almost an inch long. I used to raise em by putting Sweet feed (not Atwoods) into a bucket, make it moist with water or some beer, leave the lid off for a couple of days then put a lid on the bucket with a 1 " hole in it. Pleenty little caterpillars for bait. I think they are soldier fly larvae. I have also used chicken scratch.
