I sent a rifle barrel in a similar tube up to Montana via USPS a few months ago. Then they sent it back same way. No issues.

I bought 2 rods with reels from Academy last year. Reels came no problem One rod never made it the other rod was broken in two and the two halves of the rod tube was doubled in half and retaped. It was delivered that way. Academy did make it right though.
The only thing worse than a porta potty in the wintertime is a porta potty in the summertime.

I would refuse without even opening.
Can you imagine the stress that rod went thru?
I bought 2 rods from simmons sporting goods and they arrived in perfect condition in a PVC tube.
God loves you just as much as anybody else!!
