"Pro" bass fishing is a marketing campaign masquerading as a sport. Thats all it has ever been. A ploy to sell you stuff. Once you realize that you will be much better off.

Just enjoy fishing, its you vs the fish. Nothing else.

Get rid of information rule
Make a 100 yard rule to another boat anchored or not that will get rid of the team fishing guys.

It’s clear that Herron is stressed out and upset over all of this.

He would have been better off taking the high road and not doing podcasts like these.

We’ll never really know all the different sides to the story, and in the end, he’s just another dude, with a boat, paying to fish a tournament.

I don't get the hate for Mercer. I listen to a lot of fishing podcasts while traveling to work and have listened to most of Mercer's podcasts. He comes off as a completely different guy than you see on stage for weigh in. You'd swear it was two different people. I'm not a huge fan of his antics on the weigh in stage, but also understand he has a tough job at trying to hype up a weigh in. His knowledge and ability to rattle off stats for every single angler without a script is pretty darn impressive.

I thought he was fair to both Herren and Martin and don't recall him commenting specifically on those cases. I thought he was harder on Martin than he was Herren and spoke more in general terms. Going to have to go back and listen when I get a chance.

I do think Herren was treated unfairly based on the information he provided, and I think Martin pretty much incriminated himself by his own statements.


Slick took some getting used to, not a big fan of his short videos where he attempts to be a Larry the Cable Guy type comedian but rarely pulls it off. However, he has predicted lots of things that have occurred, so it seems like he gets solid first hand information on what's going on.

Seems the old guys, who cannot get it up anymore, like to go to the coffee shop and try and be experts on everything...

Just watched the Slick podcasts, two things I'm sure of, there is going to be legal action between BASS and Herren now and BASS is even more of a dumpster fire than I thought it was.

Yeah, the wheels fall of that one. No sure who would want to financially back a fella like that.

It shouldn’t come as much surprise. BASS has the power. Way to many people are willing to throw there dough at that machine. Until the anglers find a way to band together to force BASS in another direction it will stay the same.

FFS didn’t ruin it for old folk, they got exactly what they wanted, the “grew the sport” it’s grown now, they have the completion they wanted.

Legal action? He’d have to prove he suffered actual financial damages…. He is probably saving money by not fishing.🤷‍♂️😆🤦🏼

I don’t think Dave Mercer is a communist, liar or POS. I like his podcast. He is smart, and interviews folks well.

I can’t keep up with the drama- didn’t he leave MLF to come back to BASS? Does he fish the “elites”?
