You’ve gotta stay away from that Chinese Tic Tac I can’t open that link, but I would think a call to TPWD would yield a more reliable answer.

I do not know if this fits but, I went to a meeting years ago about Lake Conroe's lack of vegetation. One of TPWD's own people said that really bad things happen to bodies of water without natural vegetation. Yep, see Purtis creek, once a gem now its a sh#thole. They now have vegetation cages all around the lake with t-post that scratch your boat because you can't see them right under the water because the water color is so bad. The problem is TPWD’s can’t properly manage what they think is the appropriate aquatic vegetation. They should quit trying to get fancy with it, and just let the hydrilla buck. Show me a fish that doesn’t benefit from this perceived horrible invasive. Houston co in its prime was literally choked out with hydrilla, and the fishing was as good as it’s ever been there. Killing off the hydrilla just provides a beautiful space for nasty stuff like salvania to show up, imo. The guy from TPWD said that there all kinds of invasive vegetation that are much worse than hydrilla. Just before I started fishing Bastrop, the powers-to-be eradicated the eel grass. Consequently, all kinds of really nasty stuff started growing in the shallow areas. TPWD does not manage vegetation. Management takes man hours. They go in and eradicate everything in one sweep. I'll never forget an aged lady complaining that she got some hydrilla on her toe, therefore it needs to be eliminated.

Why has the TPWD NOT PUT OUT A THING THAT I NO OF ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON iN OUR LAKES AND PK is not the only one suffering in north Texas. Many of our lakes are not doing well . Maybe over the years we have just been spoiled to having great fishing . But I have never seen it this bad in the lakes I fish.

I was a regular on Fork when LMBV hit it in the 90's and it devastated it. I fished it for about year and a half after that and don't think I caught a single fish out of it. Before the virus it almost always produced fish for me and well. The Birch Creek area around the main lake was my favorite haunt and you could see huge schools of shad on the surface with absolutely nothing chasing them. It eventually recovered; probably from stocking, but it never seemed to be as good as it was before the virus.

If I remember correctly, the fish that make it through the virus are immune so future effects become less and less. (I think.)

I saw probably 2,000 dead white bass floating on Limestone Monday. All seemed to be 10” or shorter

Isn't there a bit of speculation the Fork LMBV is actually code for whatever horrible grass killer they used was fatal to the fish population ?
