I hate to say this but there will be rule changes or laws enacted.
2025: These two accidents in one day.
2024: The kids that ran their boat on the bank at Toledo(?). The college kids that ran up on another boat. I want to say there was another (unknown lake) where the guy was fishing a boat lane also.
Too many accidents and too much liability. These are deaths involved as opposed to just accidents. These are just what I remember. I have no doubt that there will be rule changes. With that said, I'm just not sure any of those rule changes effect any actual change. I guess you have to try, but coming up with a rule that prevents someone from hitting a boat fishing in the middle of the lake in, by all accounts, perfect visibility is a hard thing to come up with. I guess what I'm saying is it's really hard to come up with a rule to make someone pay attention. Would a lifetime ban on anyone who causes a boat wreck deemed preventable by investigating authorities be a good start? Just a raw thought. Maybe that would help reinforce how important safety rules are. Or maybe accidents are just an unfortunate part of life on this globe, and more rules just punish the innocent. Again, this one is quite the head scratcher to me.

I wonder if there will be any go pro footage? Most guys have their camera going while running down the lake.

Wasn’t there a proposed boating law about items being above the bow rail? I don’t remember the specifics, I think TMD might because I believe we were discussing it one time.
Or….i might have just made it up in my head.

I would really like to see some serious consequences for the ones reasonable. they might not care about other people but I bet they will care about a life time ban. the question i have if banned from one they could just go to another plenty of tournaments. I just really dont want anymore laws or rules that i have to follow because of other people negligence. Safety has to be promoted more and given more weight than ever before because of so many more people involved now.

Or….i might have just made it up in my head. I remember one of the circuits having talk of how high graphs could be off the deck but don’t remember the details

They could always slap a 50 mph speed limit on them

how do you police speed limits. maybe the pros cause they have officials but what about all circuits whether it be college these semi pro type tournaments or smaller one like the bass champs and tto. Accidents are happening at all levels last year someone hit the cedar creek dam threw his partner out of the boat and it really messed him up. So what would be a good solution to the problem is some seriously stiff punishments. as stated above nobody seems to agree keep talking about things that wont solve this problem and it is a problem. It is not just talk on the TFF it is real to many people have been negatively affect by negligence of these boaters. I dont want to be one of the people that gets hurt so I ask please put safety first and care about not hurting other people.

Could be done plenty of ways- gps on your locators show top speed, hp limits, lie detectors, etc. none of it beats old fashioned common sense.

If anyone is found responsible for and liable for a deadly, or major accident on the water, being eligible for any fishing tournament will be the least of their problems........

I believe you could police speed with some sort of transponder recorder attached to the boat at the beginning of the tournament that uses GPS to record speed while the boat is on the water. I’ve done a lot of motorcycle racing and the sanctioning body owns the transponders and passes them out at the beginning. I’m sure it could be adapted to boats if they want to get serious. Restricting horsepower on 21’ boats is not a safe answer.
