I bought some of this fiberglass polish/oxidation remover at a boat show many years ago to use on a heavily oxidized metal flake boat but the clear coat was gone and nothing could fix it short of new gelcoat. I am now restoring another boat, oxidized but not burned through to the metal flake, so I found this product in my garage and tried it before risking buffing or sanding too deep. It worked great!, wipe on a small amount and it spread out a lot, polish a little and move on. After a week it still shines! A little over half a bottle did sides and top deck and sides of trailer on this 22' bass boat. I had bought 2 bottles and used 1/2 before so now I have a bit less than a full bottle and can not find it anywhere. Website doesn't work, Facebook page is gone. Google search is like it never existed, Google lens got no hits. Anybody know anything about this? maybe was renamed or bought out? It was made in Texas.

I'm a huge fan of the protec stuff. Used a lot of different products, but none equaled theirs.

Their restore kit has everything you need. I'll try to dig up some before/after pics.

wow, I actually bought that kit in the red bag about the same time, maybe the next years boat show! Using it on that old boat with the gel coat gone did not give it much of a chance, I need to dig thru my garage storage and see if I still have it....

Boats/gelcoat don''t have clear coat finishes on them. Pro Tec is good stuff, but for oxidation removal you're going to do some wet sanding. Good step by step process on the Pro Tec web site.

Thanks, my bad, I wrongly call the gelcoat a clear coat. I saw that video before and tried wet sanding on that old boat but it was too far gone. The red metal flake had turned silver and you could rub the flake off with a rag.
Fast forward to the current project, wiped on the Merman and slightly hand polished sides and part of top, the difference shows on the inside pic.

The Pro Tec stuff should work great on that boat finish.

Thanks, I think that I still have it but I need to check if it is still good and I'll try it next time. The Mermans still looked like when it was new. Some of my old Meguires stuff is bad.....

Crazy that it looks like they never even existed! Over a week now and still looks great. It was pretty slippery at first and spread a long way, 1/2 of that little bottle did most of this 22' boat. Not slippery now and water beads up really well. Very curious as to what happened to them, may need to get a lab to figure out this formulation.....
