Why should the government control even the clocks? Butt out.

Split the difference is the answer.
I doubt this gets anywhere though. Apparently, polls show most people want to get rid of it, but it's about a 50/50 split which way folks want to be the new standard. As a result, Trump views it as non-issue. He's publicly said as much.

They say DST but then like the extra time to do things outside after work during summer.

The people who complain about it getting dark earlier in the evenings will complain about it being dark later in the mornings. It’s going to do one or the other if you don’t adjust the clock.

Fishing in the dark can be very productive. I knew a guy who tore up the reds at night. I wouldn't suggest wade fishing at night at the coast though unless you are a winter Texan, then by all means get after it. That being said, I'd like one time and not a change. I can work around the darkness issue. If it's dark, I turn on a light. Hell, people up north live in the damn dark, and they do OK I guess. Their women ain't too hot though, but I guess it don't matter if it's dark all the time.

Another waste of time, money, resources. Think about all of the systems out there that will require a patch to "correct" this. Phones, PCs, Smart Devices, etc.

From Google AI: Daylight Saving Time (DST) has several downsides, including disrupting sleep patterns, potentially impacting mental and physical health, and incurring costs related to time changes and maintenance. Some studies also suggest a correlation between DST and increased risk of heart attacks and strokes, as well as an increase in car accidents and workplace injuries. Here's a more detailed look at the cons of DST: 1. Sleep Disruption and Health Impacts: Disrupted sleep patterns: The abrupt time change, especially during "spring forward," can disrupt the body's natural circadian rhythm and lead to sleep deprivation, impacting overall health and well-being. Increased risk of health problems: Studies have linked DST to an increased risk of heart attacks and strokes, as well as a rise in hospital admissions. Mental health impacts: DST can worsen symptoms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) and other mental health issues. Increased accidents: There's evidence suggesting a short-term increase in car accidents and workplace injuries in the days following the time change. 2. Economic Costs: Time adjustments and system maintenance: The U.S. economy incurs costs associated with adjusting clocks, updating computer systems, and managing the time changeover. Reduced productivity: Drowsiness and sleep deprivation caused by DST can lead to decreased productivity at work. 3. Other Considerations: Questionable energy savings: While initially intended to save energy, studies have shown that DST may not result in significant energy conservation. Impact on agriculture: Farmers may oppose DST due to the disruption it can cause to their daily routines. Safety concerns: For some, especially those who are not accustomed to the changes, DST can lead to increased safety risks, particularly in the morning.

If that's true, I'm thinking shift work has the same potential effects on your health.

Trump announced today he wants to keep DST. But stop the changing of clocks. Trump’s endorsement for making daylight saving time the norm — rather than changing clocks twice a year or conforming to standard time, which would mean more daylight in the morning hours and less in the evening — could help settle the debate for lawmakers. https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/04/11/congress/trump-wants-to-change-the-time-00286183
