Saw a "good" report for Raven on the TPWD website, so I thought I would give it a try. I cannot remember the last time I fished Raven. The last time I went, the lake had been raped. There wasn't a blade of vegetation growing anywhere. More of that vegetation control that I hear about.

There was NO wind at all. The highest water temp I saw was 71.5.

I got to the ramp at sunrise, dropped my trolling motor, and started throwing a popping topwater plug. Fortunately, hydrilla is present around all of the shorelines into about 5 feet of water. Unfortunately, I didn't get a single strike. I switched to a Rage Tail frog with the same results. I then fished the point at the lodge with a lipless crankbait, a chatter bait, and a subsurface crankbait, but still, nothing.

I moved to the cove on the east side of the lake, fishing with everything I could throw. I did manage one dink on a lipless, but didn't even get him to the boat. Oh boy. Finished the day exploring the area in front of the spillway. There was nothing there but a flat, barren bottom.

During the day I spoke with one guy in a boat and one guy on a kayak. Both of them said they had nothing but goose eggs to show for their day. Misery loves company.

As they say, "nothing ventured, nothing gained", but it may be years before I go back.

Be safe,
Rayzor

It wasn't terrible when I went, I just couldn't get anything to bite.

It's very sad considering what they wanted Raven to become.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

It sure is. Raven went from being a "lunker lake" to a "worm and bobber from the bank" lake.
